How to change icon of freemem applet?[SOLVED]

Is there a way to change the little green freemem applet icon or just its color.... I know it shouldnt matter that much! (but it bothers me!!)

I think it looks a bit on the tacky side, myself, I actually want to remove it as I have a full install, and don't really need it.

To change the colour of the rings needs some job.
First you need to download the source of freemem trayapplet.
Decompress it. You find the .xpm files used in the tray applet.
Find somewhere better ones or do them yourself.
Next compile the source. You get the binary.
Lastly make a pet for it, so that you can easily install and uninstall it if it does not look like as you want. Download the Barrys freemem applet pet to see how it is packaged and clone the structure.

Small advertisement here now. I made mine combining clarf's, Barrys and 01mickos work. You get extra goodies by rightclicking the freememapplet in the tray.

Thank you pemasu...never compiled anything b4 sounds alien ..had always been .pet user....will try though.Thnx again.

Made my own small .xpm files ...then I learnt that compliling needs gcc, Am I right? How to get it?

Install the devx, you run 525 right? You can download directly from Quickpet > sfs tab

I have managed to change the look of freememapplet!!!

Dont know if it is better looking than the original but it was fun customizing it.
