Now is compatible with Wary 5.1 and 5.2beta and Quirky and
Puppy 4.3.1!
However read my instructions for Puppy 4.3.1
if you want to run that version!!!

Now doesn't need a restart of x Server!

I've put together this package of right click options
and a few small scripts to make Lucid Puppy more
enjoyable to use.

It has been tested on both lupu525 and lupu520 and recent versions
of Wary and Quirky.
However it is intended for new installations of Puppy linux.
Sometimes when it is installed in old installations, strange things can occur
because you have changed the interface around especially
if you have converted your computer to a foreign language and
now want it to be all in English again.. But no serious harm can
be done by this software.

I have tested it on a frugal installation and a full installation. It works
nicely when you boot with a CD as well.

If you use mostly a foreign language (say Spanish) you should
avoid installing this package. Instead there are special versions
available in the Murga forum that you should use such as
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=65323

Here's a list of the just some of the features you
get mostly with a right click on the file (or folder)...

1) The script Markup is useful for text markup in scripts
2) mtpaintsnapshot.sh is improved to psnapshot
It saves your screenshot to folder 'Screenshots'.
3) Screenshot browser will open directly to Screenshots folder
4) Extract-pet script will extract a pet package without changing the original.
5) ptm timer is a simple egg timer
6) Images can be copied to Backgrounds folder and to Screenshots folder
7) Scripts can be run in terminal
8 ) the script wav2mp3 is included . To use it , put wav files in a folder
then type command 'wav2mp3' in terminal. A new folder is created named
'wav2mp3' (if it doesn't already exist) and mp3 files are created inside the new folder.
9) There are now several right click options for a folder using the scripts
dir2sfs
dir2targz
dir-to-iso
10) Full screen open for various video formats
11) Jagged fonts problem with Dillo Browser is solved
12) Md5sum check is done for several file types
13) Zigbert's pclock is included to be used
as an alarm clock (with pschedule 1.0 or newer)
14) 'Trash' is an option for most common file types.
This is safer than 'Delete'.
15) pfind will do a search inside a folder or just on
one partition to speed up the search
16) an improved version of Zigbert's pclock has been added
17) Egg recorder 1.1 included and pclock now works correctly
Note: Some features of Egg Recorder aren't available in Wary.
18 ) Switch from Egg Recorder to Bacon Recorder which is
probably better??
19) Supports pmusic -B option to play music file in background
Note: Lupu 520 must upgrade it's version of pmusic for this feature!!
20) Open mp3 with mhwaveedit option
21) Images opened with default image viewer, which is
usually 'viewnior' but you can easily change this in /usr/local/bin/defaultimageviewer
22) Zathura will view pdf files -very quick
(Note that 's' and 'a' are key shortcuts for useful commands
that Zathura uses)
23) Created a PDF Folder so that there will be a central
place to store PDF's. There is a application that opens this Folder.
24) Centralized structure of folder management - Use
the 'Copy to ... Folder' to keep your hard drive organized(v5.2.1)
24) Entire folder can be copied with right click option (v5.2.2)
25) Extract-txz script will extract .txz and .tar.xz archives
26) A nightly save of pupsave file is now easy with
backup_pupsave
27) mp3 sound file can be easily converted to wave file
and vice versa with just a right click!
28 ) create a pet package from a folder very fast!!
29 ) useful presets for ffconvert added
30 ) splitting of ISO and create m3u list
31 ) conversion of postscript file to pdf
32 ) extract rpm package

Installation is simple...just install pet package . A restart of X server
is not necessary now. Don't rush the installation. Fresh installs are best.
It takes at least 10 seconds...and it requires the appropriate
space for installation --> several megs now.

So I highly recommend this package for users of Lucid Puppy 5.20 and 5.25.
...and now Wary and Quirky!

But remember that it is best on fresh installations.
.... and don't try it on Lucid 526 since it has it's own system
(but I did test it on a Beta version and it did work fairly well).

new version 4.8 - right click options

I made a few small changes to my Right click package on the suggestion of
smokey01

1) More options for text files and internet files
2) Also a partition can be searched by pfind
3) MIME was changed so that GIMP xcf files can be opened with a
single click

See above post to download the package.

new version of Right-click

#5 Post by don570 »

new version of Right-click - version 4.9.1

Just added an improved version of Zigbert's pclock program.
It requires pschedule 1.0 or newer to be installed, which most recent puppies have.

It gives music alarms plus textual alarms.
It is a simple egg timer. It can launch an app after a certain time.

It can time laps i.e chronometer. It's very small but convenient so
I decided to put it in the package.

version 4.9.3

new version 4.9.3

I fixed a mistake with the package, so now it will now install
without having to restart X server.

Also I put the latest version of egg recorder 1.2 in the package.
It's the simplest way to record a WAV or MP3 file in the background.

Dag! Hey Don570,

Don't let the relatively small number of downloads (so far) fool you into thinking that this effort isn't pure genius in conception & execution. I only became aware of it via Tman's Slickpup puplet, but will be including it my puplet as well. If you are interested in collaborating, please PM me, as I would like to contribute.

If anybody wants other files supported , either MIME or
Rox right clight options just tell me.

I put in GIMP mime so that .xcf files just have to clicked
to open.

I'll have another version soon.
It will support the pmusic -B feature
so that music will play in the background
with a click.

Don570,

I have just noticed copying image to background folder doesn't seem to work.

Copy to Screenshot folder does and open in mtPaint does.

I am using Lupu510.

lupu 510

#13 Post by don570 »

I haven't tested it with Lupu 510

I have Shinobar's version of Lupu installed on my hard drive
I'll test it tonite and see what is not compatible.

pclock .35 needs pschedule 1.0 or 1.02
and pmusic -B needs a recent upgrade of pmusic ( .6 I think)

Also I recommend a recent version of mtpaint
which has file gobbing.

The problem with a package like this is that it can only be built
for a few versions of puppy.

Snow puppy is now building the software right in the ISO which is
how I originally wanted it to be.

If you have enough Ram I highly recommend Snow Puppy.

Right-click-4.9.7

#18 Post by don570 »

I included Zathura to view pdf documents quickly
The most import key shortcuts are 's' and 'a'
to do the zooming
so I put that info in the right click option menu
Image

Also when copying an image to the Screenshots folder
I made a change so that copying a link of an image
will actually copy the real image.

new version 4.9.8

#20 Post by don570 »

Right-click-4.9.8.pet available
new version 4.9.8
I quickly put together a new package
from some ideas from pemasu

For the next version I think I'll add ffconvert since it's
not too big.

1) Added two video formats
2) Changed wording to 'Open Full Screen'
3) Added 'Default Media Player' option
4) Changed mtpaint so it can now open multiple files simultaneous
Note: Use 'Open with' after selecting the images
5) Now there are two apps to open PDF
6) Two audio formats are now supported .au and .m4a

To open multiple files I used this script which was written
by somebody (probably Jemimah)

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
 # Check to see if they clicked on the application or sent stuff to mtpaint.
 test -sd "$@"
 if [ "$?" = "0" ]
 then

 # If they just clicked on the icon.
exec mtpaint

else
# if they sent things to mtpaint

for i in "$@"
do
exec mtpaint "$i" &
done

fi
