Puppy 2.01 and the Smartlink Modem Driver (SOLVED)

#1 Post by ICPUG »

On this thread:
http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?t=7113
I reported that I managed to get my Agere Modem (AC'97) to dial out to the internet with Puppy 1.0.8r1 by loading the Smartlink Pupget package.

Puppy 2.01 comes with the Smartlink driver already on-board.

When I booted up Puppy I clicked on the 'Connect' desktop icon. This fired up the modem wizard but only the standard ttySn (n=0 - 3) buttons appeared. There was no button for ttySL0. I had rebooted a couple of times before doing this so that all the appropriate files had been created on my harddrive.

Do I have to do something else first, or is this telling me the inbuilt driver is not working for me?

If the inbuilt driver is not working for me, can I run the Smartlink Pupget without any conflict with the inbuilt drivers?

No, the Smartlink driver is not on-board.
I only intended to do that for the OneBone Puppy, or BareBones.
So, you have to use PupGet
...as I don't have a Smartlink modem, I hope it's all right this time!

Puppy 2.01 and the SmartlinkModem Driver (SOLVED)

I have loaded and installed the Pupget.

I am happy to report that I am now connected to the Internet.

As is customary, I am writing this message using Puppy 2.01 through my Agere modem!

Thanks to all who got the Smartlink modem driver working with Puppy 2.01. It is a success for me.

Great! :D
It's great also that the Smartlink driver works for some non-Smartlink modems.
