Can I get a Metronome .pet please?

#1 Post by geoff777 »

Hi can anyone make a metronome .pet for me.

There are quite a few Linux metronomes out there but I can't get one to work.

One with a choice of beeps or samples would be good.

Thanks

Have you tried Ndujoe1's gtick .pet here?

Thank you, I had found Gtick but it was a much older .pup and I couldn't get it working.

Installed and working :-) on 5.2.5

I compiled the attached gtk1-based metronome-0.1.1 but, although it starts up, doesn't appear to generate any sounds on my laptop...perhaps it might work for someone else?

Lastly, the commndline-based ctronome works. For options run:

Code: Select all

ctronome --help
or check the docs at /usr/share/doc/ctronome.

And a curses based front-end to ctronome. Run etronome[/b[ in a console.

Finalmetronome: wxGtk-based metronome

#7 Post by muggins »

http://liveformusic.sourceforge.net/
"FinalMetronome" (NOT "Final Metronome", very old name was "OpenMetronome") is an open source metronome, designed to be highly customizable and professional. Final Metronome has all the features of other expensive (or non-opensource) metronomes, plus few more.
From one extreme to the other. I've only tested this binary with p412 & p525. It works with the latter, but segfaults with the former. Needs wxGTK-2.8.10-i486.pet installed.

I've uploaded a .pet here: finalmetronome-0.0.8.pet.

here is a metronome using QT4 libs

I compiled statically, so you don't need to ahev QT4 libs on your system

*metronome*
- http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32350825/qt4-static/metronome

*simply* download, make it executable and run clicking on it

Dingo, I just tried it in 525. All it did was beep three times and quit. Could not restart without closing it and double clicking it again. Then it just repeated the same performance

Sorry, mate, just re-downloaded, made executable. Same behavior. Tried it in a terminal. After the third beat, got:
cannot open audio default device (Device or resource busy)

Is working on p525. What md5sum do you have?

Code: Select all

# md5sum metronome
fd58dfbdc32f8e231279dfbb17fd3803 metronome
@Dingo, Iooked at the 2 qt3-based metronomes, and after compiling I didn't think they were worth uploading. Have you looked at Qt4-based Maestro and Drumstick?

Thanks for suggestions. I tried to compile these two metronomes with my QT4 static environment, but I failed due to the dependency from libphonon.so

Debian Squeeze has libphonon.so and libphonon-dev but they call shared libs from QT4, while I have static

Dingo, just tried your metronome in 431 also. Same results as in 525. Just my system? Don't have time to troubleshoot right now, and gtick is working just fine.

Muggins, my md5sum is same as yours. Tried metronome in Puppy525, mediapup, luci246, wary511, and Puppy431. Result always the same -- four beats with or without first beat checked -- and then the error message:
cannot open audio default device (Device or resource busy)
repeating until "Stop" is clicked in metronome.

metronome gtick 0.5.1 all in one

#16 Post by charlie6 »

Hi musicians !
Happy Music Day !
Here is gtick 0.5.1 all in one pet (sound works out off the box ... on dpup exprimo ...later version by february 2012 .
Very usefull ( in my humble opinion ), .. as the visual tick lets you read and play your score while «seeing» the «tap» in the non-conscient visual field ... 8)
There has been some user friendly improvment since verison 0.4.2 !
This comes from debian packages + added needed dependencies + alsa-oss.
note: set sound on OSS in the Preferences menu (also told in a warning dialog box coming upon pet install)

Enjoy ...!
Charlie
