Test build 2 with new woof now. Small fixes and next to test sfsget-manager which stu90 improved. Now it should contact pet_packages-exprimo repo and after downloading sfs it should launch sfs load on the fly.

I tested that sfs on the load adds extra sfs over default 6. Wish list. Edit init script so that you could have about 24 extra sfs. Problem, init script is totally cryptic for me. I got basic instructions from tazoc, lets see if I can increase the amount by trial and error. But it wont be the next version. In LHP there is tens of changed or adder rows in init script so comparint it to Barrys does not help much.

Acpitool from squeeze repo, version 0.51 does not wake up every time ok. I changed to use version 0.53 from debian. First 2 wake ups ok. Before long suspension about 6-8 hours sometimes failed. I test that today. I will update acpitool, if next longer suspends and wake ups are fine.

And Radky`s new Pupcontrol 1.6 which is modified for dpups is just superb.
THANK YOU Radky.

Packages-puppy-common-official not working from PPM will be fixed in next woof:
I include that fix to the next version without waiting next woof.

Subject description: Install to USB

Not able to install to USB with "Bootflash install Puppy to USB".

Error cant mount .....iso.

Puppy Universal Installer works for me with " mbr.bin from the syslinux package" install option.

Backi. I havent ever used that bootflash app, but now I tested. It seems to be more or less for FAT formatted usb drives. I dont have any such. Next thing, it seems to call mbrfat.bin which does not exist. Bootflash script does not work in dpup as it is.
I wonder if there is any use for it. There is PUI and will be grub4dos installer in the next version. I am thinking of removing that bootflash script and menu entry.

pemasu, don't remove bootflash installer.
I was successful installing to a extX partition.
And you don't have to mess with whatever grub.
It is straightforward normally.

Besides bootflash install is referenced in a lot of install advice.
If it's not in your distro, you will get the remarks that it's missing.

But you are the boss in this matter.

Béèm, that's amazing news.
Just to be sure: the partition was still extX after the install?
The only reason I try to stay away from the BootFlash Installer, is that it turns the partition or the usb key into a fat file system.

Yes, that's the beauty of it.

Thanks.

Beem. It looks like bootflash would need updating for used syslinux package. Ok. I can include it. It doesnt take space that is no problem. Only one script in fact, and menu entry. But how does it work, that is another thing.

I have so little use for usb and I have only one usb stick to test so I cant help much in debugging. But if you launch bootflash in console, you see what messages it sends.

About Packages-puppy-common-official fix Barry posted. It does not work still. In fact it looks like braking even more. I dont include it to the next version. I just remove the common repo. Anyway it is used in distro building process and that works ok when using woof.

Same here, things are messed up. Can't work on another dpup release until Woof is fixed.

Bert. It looked like bootflash tried to mbrfat.bin bootloader and calls mkfsdos or something like that and tried to format my stick. Anyway, my ext3 filesystem was screwed and nothing was installed. Also the iso mounting had problems.

I can include it but I dont have much use for it. I would be very cautious and would not try installing with it to the stick which has anything valuable and that installing person knows howto use gparted so that usable filesystem and bootable flag can be restored.

Dpup Exprimo 5.X.2 has been uploaded. It introduces modular core base. Not so tiny as Stu90. Iso size 108 Mb, xz compressed, because Barry Kauler made it available with new woof. New icons in jwm Pinboard: Puppy Linux in Web and Sfs Apps Loader. It connects to the sfs repo, downloads and launches Sfs Load on the Fly app. Acpitool updated, seems to work more reliably.
PupControl is now version 1.6.1. SysInfo is also updated. Grub4dos added ( I thought it was there ).

Mplayer-Ffmpeg-gnome-mplayer-gecko-mediaplayer, Umplayer, VLC are as downloadable sfs in repo, none included.
Abiword-Gnumeric-Goffice as downloadable sfs and as pet. Same with LibreOffice 3.4.2. Pmusic 1.8.3 is in exprimo repo also. Pupradio is in main menu, but it needs mplayer or vlc to work.

This modular approach to multimedia apps is due to that I dont know atm, what I will include to the distro. I need some time and surely working apps. Recent Gnome-mplayer is broken, so waiting.....the solution and decision....

Many Lucid app sfs works oob in dpup also or just some libs are missing, and that is easily fixed. Next I will test stu90 posted multimedia package sfs in his thread.

Wow, nice stuff Very Happy

Wait for my next build ... this time it's a different window manager and nice dock apps ... I'll leave the juicy details to myself to make the surprise bigger Smile

It should be somewhere in the 60-80 MB range I think and it's lighter than any other Puppy .... ever. Wink

Try Firefox 5.x, it's so goddamn fast on dpup. It's something ttuuxxx discovered very long ago - for some reason dpup's GTK is exceptionally fast in XUL apps Laughing

the libcurl-gnutils and libneon-gnutils are missing so gnome-mplayer wont run.
