faac-1.28 cvs (32 & 64bit)

This was compiled with the external mp4v2 library so you'll need to have that installed too. You can download the 32bit version of mp4v2 from this thread:

please be aware that faac is a patented package in a number of countries!

a free and useable alternative seems to be AAC.

There are currently discussions in the mageia and opensuse groups on a permanent changeover.

I shall update this topic when anything of interest transpires.

re my last post:

it looks like a few of the developers are looking at fdk-aac as the replacement for faac. Maybe we should also have a look?

also using ffmpeg's internal aac has problems with slow links and is not considered suitable
