Lugaru (pronounced Loo-GAH-roo) is a DRM-free, third-person action game available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. The main character, Turner, is an anthropomorphic rebel bunny rabbit with impressive combat skills. In his quest to find those responsible for slaughtering his village, he uncovers a far-reaching conspiracy involving the corrupt leaders of the rabbit republic and the starving wolves from a nearby den. Turner takes it upon himself to fight against their plot and save his fellow rabbits from slavery.

It's been now made open source to promote the sequel Overgrowth so this is the full version. If you like Lugaru, buy the sequel :)

Extract anywhere and click Lugaru to play.

Dependencies:

I already had all these dependencies installed on my setup so I don't have pets for them, but they should be easy enough to find on the forum. Use http://wellminded.com/puppy/pupsearch.html to find the ones needed. If there's difficulty finding them, let me know and I'll try to sort you out :)

* libGLU
* OpenGL
* OpenAL-Soft
* libSDL
* libpng
* libjpeg
* libogg
* libvorbis

Odds are, you'll have most these dependencies already installed except OpenAL, so don't be frightened by the list :)

Have fun,
Battleshooter

This sounds great, and a really small list of dependencies, when you consider most of them are pretty included by default in most Puppies. Good stuff, I will play with this soon :)

Also, forgot to mention, if you finish the main campaign, there are mods available, some can be found here : http://www.wolfire.com/lugaru/mods.

EDIT-- i managed to download it. i get this error when running
from console:libstdc++.so.6 GLIBCXX_3.4.11 (is not there)

i dont have a fancy grafx card..

EDIT 2- I got it to run up to the splash screen/menu, then it crashes.

Hey Wally,

Sorry to take so long to get back to you, been caught up with midsemester tests.

I tried to run the program in 431 with the Glibc fix you found, (is it this one?) and got stuck after trying to enter the village. Because it got so far into the game I'm wondering if you have the right graphic drivers for your computer. What kind of graphics card do you have?

Some info from their site:

"It should run at full speed at full detail on any system with a 700 MHz processor and Geforce 3 or better graphics card. It should run acceptably on any system with a 300 MHz processor and Rage 128 or better graphics card"

The game was very slow for me, when showing trees...

So I edited the file /root/.lugaru/Data/config.txt
I changed the resolution to 800x600, and turned off blur effects (except velocity blur).

Now the game runs really, really smooth! no troubles at all :D
And the mods work... I really like it, good find :)

@Wally Ahh ok sounds like your graphics card is running fine.

If you really wanted, you could try in Lupu to see if it's just 431 not liking the game, but if not, just try sc0ttman's suggestion in 431.

@sc0ttman, hah, great to hear you're enjoying the game so much :D

Have you been able to complete the game on insane yet? ;) I haven't played for awhile, but last I was half way through difficult. :)
