Minetest Subject description: One of the first InfiniMiner/Minecraft inspired games |
|
I have packaged Minetest-c55 to a PET package.
From Minetest-c55 website
Quote: | Minetest-c55 is one of the first InfiniMiner/Minecraft(/whatever) inspired games, with a goal of taking the survival multiplayer gameplay to a slightly different direction.
The main design philosophy is to keep it technically simple, stable and portable. It will be kept lightweight enough to run on fairly old hardware. It runs playably on a laptop with Intel 945GM graphics. |
New version: 0.4.6. Updated 06 April 2013.
Download
http://koti.mbnet.fi/juhani4/files/minetestc55-0.4.6-i686.pet (compatible with Precise libraries)
For Lucid Puppy, I've got this time only an older version.
http://koti.mbnet.fi/juhani4/files/minetestc55-0.4.3-i686-lucid.pet (compatible with Lucid libraries)
(no locales)
Other versions
NOTE: At least for me, installing better graphics driver was needed. In Lucid Puppy 5.2.8: Menu > Setup > Setup Puppy > Quickpet install popular programs, then Drivers tab and Test your graphics card and install what it suggests.

Looks pretty cool. As a fan of Minecraft, I might give it a go in a bit.

Have 5.2.8 frugal installed, tested the graphics, installed recommended as above. Installed the pet, game icon shows on fun menu.
Click icon, window opens, then disappears.

Hmm.. That sounds weird.
Could you please tell your graphics card, and what driver do you use?

Well, I did not even install it as a PET.
I expanded it into its own directory in /mnt/home and it worked fine.
I do have the factory driver installed for my Nvidia video card though.
I did it this way because I did not want it taking up space in my pupsave file.
Also, if FleaBitten2 tries starting it from a terminal, he should get feedback on why it is not running.

I tried to run it in late evening and the graphic window was really dark.
Does this game change game screen brightness corresponding to time of day?
When I first ran it, it was midday and game screen displayed fine.
This is an edit:
Never walk into a hole/mine with no light and no tools.
The damn games remembers.
Where do you get your mining equipment in the game by the way?

Nice that you like it.
8-bit:
This game changes brightness corresponding time of day in the game, just as you thought.
For help (including how to get mining equipment) I would recommend to visit Minetest Wiki.

I. Love. You.
Very nice game, I'd love to follow the development. As a lover of minecraft, I host a nice modded server, and a website dedicated to it.
I'm considering hosting a server for this as well since it's on my favorite OS.

here is what the petget says: SUCCESS: minetestc55-0.3.0-i686 is installed!
An entry has been created in the 'fun' menu, with text
'Minetest-c55'
HOWEVER you need to 'Refresh Menus' to see it
(just above the shutdown button in the menu)
NOTE 1: /root/.packages/minetestc55-0.3.0-i686.files has list of installed files.
NOTE 2: if installed any library X server, browser you must reboot puppy.
HOWEVER these dependencies are missing: file /usr/bin/minetest has these missing library files:libGLU.so.1
The PETget package manager does not know what packages has these libraries (ps im a linux newb )
