pFind 6.3
Minor niggles
I am using 422 from Lucid 526rc. In the first page of this thread, you show the current directory being displayed. This is not shown when I run pfind -d /root, run from menu, from right-click, or click on the RoxApp in /usr/local/apps. I was disappointed, as that feature seemed a very nice one to have.
In both 421 and 422, in you run pfind -a or pfind -ad /root, the pfilesearch window opens. If I cancel out without searching, there is an 8-10 second delay and then an empty search box appears. Can it be made to either just close down or else behave the way it acts if you go in via the menu?

In Lucid Puppy 525 I came on this unusual discovery.
Hits that had both a French accented character and the filename had
an empty space look strange. I tried 'Open'
from your menu and it wouldn't open. These are filenames
that Rox Filer turns red as a warning to show that they are
improper I believe.

Hi
@don570 ... Bonjour ou bonsoir selon le cas ...
maybe trivial but sounds indeed like a problem in accentuated character recognition...
Was not the case on my current Pfind 4.18+NLS file, which recognizes "é" etc...
(note: As much as possible, here I'm living with avoiding the use of accentuated characters in directories and file names - Here: locale = french + fr_BE )
Cheers, Charlie

Good point Charlie.
I've been using Lucid Puppy 525 pfix=ram
over and over to test Right-click-5.2.1.pet
My latest and best!!!
Probably there is a difference between
running in English and French. I'll test over weekend.
I did test that a blank space in the name causes the
trouble with accented characters.

I've been checking some more, and I find the only problem
is a few files that Rox Filer shows in the color red.
They are html files of radio-canada.ca's schedule
downloaded to a fat32 USB stick using Microsoft Explorer
on a Window's computer.
So there is some incompatibility between Windows and linux

I'm not 100% sure that fixing it will help with Pfind, but IIRC the red files in rox mean the partition is not mounted with the correct code page. You might be able to find the code page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_code_page. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly what to do with it.don570 wrote:I've been checking some more, and I find the only problem

Ah, OK. I presume you saw the rox rename trick to fix individual files?

??? Is there a bug in latest pfind???
I got this strange warning message. First I launched pfind
in Exprimo 5x5. Then directly after the launch I clicked the close button
in upper right. (See image)
I believe that the developper pemasu had just upgraded pfind
because of gktdialog

It works perfectly otherwise.
Just when I launch and then close without using the application.
Exprimo 5x5 uses Enlightenment to launch apps from
a 'Shelf'. That may be the problem. ...but other
apps work fine.
I will investigate further tonite. It's a holiday weekend here.

bug in pfind
pfind version 4.2.2 is listed in script
I should have clicked on the advanced button
in the window
I would have seen this
Here's the terminal output when I launch with the terminal
and then close by clicking the upper right close button.
.... but it gives the same terminal output when it has done a
file search.
Note: Radky is careful about how he ends his scripts.
He uses not only the usual 'exit 0' but some sort of unset command
He's quite experienced with the different window managers.

If we are speaking of Dpup Exprimo 5.X.5, it uses Pfilesearch 1.25 pet and it has that spoken file included and also copied to the root, at least in my savefile.
I have got samekind warnings in e17 also with other applications. I have left them to the e17 quirks. But maybe there is some common nominator. I will keep my eye on those warnings.

<WindowStyle> drives Pfind crazy.
One person from Russian Puppy forum have entered in Pfind search box the line:
and Pfind went crazy after that. Only deleting /root/.pfind helps. And he says that in Puppy-420 it doesn't happen but it happens in all latest puppies.<WindowStyle>
