Jim3630. I dont know of advantages. These builds have different flavor, somewhat different applications, different kernel, so on...
I think it is more what you prefer and like to use. And even better, install both and test.

Pemasu, thanks for your response. I tried them and between the /etc/acpi/actions folder that contains the suspend.sh script and the acpid pet, when I close the lid, my lapdog goes to sleep peacefully ! The /etc/init.d/rc.acpi was not needed.
As a bonus, I see that when using shinobar's suspend.sh script, upon resume, my wireless network is still connected! Somehow the sleep.sh script doesn't gracefully reawaken the network. A Win-Win in my book...now on to tackling the dial-up modem!
Thanks again, HJ

hi permasu
i like your blue puppy snow wolf thing logo you use for snow puppy.
Who does your art work? If you do it yourself then you have my praise.
being someone with no sense of asthetics at all and unable to make thing like this myself, i found your logo and stuff on your opening post on this thread really quite nice

pemasu, I use snowpup 18 and 20.
The problem with the v20 is the menu. When I switch to Korean, Korean letters are "boxed" letters.
It happened before and I solved it by using other themes but it doesn't work this time.
All the jwm themes showed boxed letters.
I attached a comparison screenshots.(I like v18's screenshot capture not v20)
I think v20 is better than v18 but if the letter problem continues, then I have to go back to v18.
Any suggestions?

I dont have now time to make comparison between SP 18 and 20. I am leaving tomorrow to the Lapland and I have a lot things to do this evening.
But...It could be font problem. It might be that I have changed the default font for jwm menus and themes. You could check the /root/.jwm/themes folder between them and is there different default font or font size. You could also test by replacing the /root/.jwm/themes folder from SP18 which works ok. It could also be that I have included different fonts in /usr/share/fonts/default/TTF
Next thing could be difference with locale handling but that is something I am not very familiar with.
Just brainstorming.

Hello pemasu...
I just wanted to take a moment and tell you how fantastic Snow Puppy is, and to thank you for the work you have done!
When I first dove into the Puppy world it was back when Fire Hydrant and PizzaPup was going on. Then came along Cielo, Stardust, TeenPup and some other greats...getting me more interested in Puppy as a community.
When the motherboard blew in my brother's P4 box last year, I set him up with 020. He couldn't believe how much faster things were even when I had to use on old AMD machine until we could get replacement motherboard ordered. Now he has been hit with a bad computer bug and he just might make "the change" now.
Snow Puppy is so easy to set up, fast to run on anything and hasn't crashed at all. It is my favorite Puppy, and I have most ALL of 'em. Keep up the great work when you can, and thanks again!
PS: I think the Snow Puppy logo and design would make a GREAT T-shirt !!

If it's a virus etc have you seen my >> Fix Windows How To.

Featuring >> Puppy, Hiren's and the Falcon boot discs.
He can still use Windows and run Puppy.

Someone on this forum was making puppy T-shirts.

And pemasu is top drawer in the help dept.
Thanks sparkie for the feed back.

Thanks for the "How To" link. Read a bit of the thread and will read more in depth in the coming days. Good stuff there.
Concerning my brother's infected computer, this is what I did:
1- Booted BitDefender boot disk. Found these bugs:
variant.barys.244
variant.kazy.63155
variant.kazy.63553
variant.renos.556
rootkit.49290
trojan.generic.kd.581389
trojan.generic.kdv.582803
trojan.sirefef.bv
win32.worm.downadup.gen
2- Deleted these. Most were in the /drivers folder.
3- Rebooted, started cycling at the "Start Windows Normally" screen
4- Ran the Heron's disc, then did the "Save Me" proceedure.
5- Rebooted, said missing ntosdkrnl.exe
6- Booted Snow Puppy, copied ntoskrnl.exe from XP disc to HD.
7- Rebooted, said it was still missing.
8- Ran "fixboot", "fixmbr", etc. No help.
9- Rebooted Snow Puppy, backed up HD, ran GParted.
10- Reinstalled XP (brother wouldn't go Puppy), installed Avast! Free.
The "downadup" confiker worm came from me. Wife wanted Netflix. Had to DL Silverlight. She brought up IE (she thought that's the only way to run Netflix), then BANG!
I have learned 3 things from all this:
1. My patience for Win has grown to apathy.
2. As soon as I can replace my Lexmark printer with an HP, it's "Snow Time"!
3. When I die I do not want a standard headstone. I want a computer tower with a sledgehammer throught the front !!!!

Sorry of the missing download link. I have had to remove a lot stuff. There was a demand from the hosting company that there is need for cleaning up the space.
I was told, that if there does not happen disk space cleaning soon, they might take the action.
Of course I do have the isos still available. I am not sure though should I upload them again. I think that another upload site would be better. Something for these nowadays unmaintained versions.
I think about it. Sorry of the missing download possibility. I will edit the first page post.
