problem installing webcamera

Hi
I need to know how to go about installing this old web cam in Puppy 5.1.1
I plugged the webcam in and nothing happens
What should I do now?
I should point out that this webcam does not work in both Windows XP and Windows 7 either. They detect some kind of USB webcam, but cannot install the driver, even after running the setup file of the webcam. However, there is a green light in front of the webcam (I thought it was the power indicator or something) and it turns on as soon as I insert the webcam in a USB port, but this doesn't happen in Puppy

Here is the message that I get in Device Manager in Windows

Code:

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.


To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.


What does it mean by not enough storage is available?
Since this is an old webcam there is a possibility of some kind of hardware damage in the webcam as well. Is there anyway I can check for this?

I will provide further information if needed

I never could get the applications for the webcam to work for me either.
I then did a search of the forum for Guvcview.
You might find it in the Additional Software - Graphics section.

Anyway, it worked for me without having to hunt drivers.

Better yet, just look here.

Mahaju,

what make/model webcam? If you run Menu>System>HardInfo>USB, what does HardInfo say your webcam's VendorID & ProductID's are?

If 8-bit couldn't get it to work I doubt if I can Confused
Anyway this is what hardinfo says about my USB webcam:

By the way, there is a software called lucview already present in the Multimedia entry in Puppy's start menu, but it says it can't detect my webcam

any ideas on what I should do now?

I'm not sure about the brand of the webcam, it has ADDION written on it, but a google search for the ADDION webcam driver doesn't give anything

If you run lsmod | more, in a console, is gspca listed as a module. If not, try running modprobe gspca

Regarding Guvcview, I can't recall if pup511 came with it, but it's definitely in later puppies.

Edit Luvgview, built in 5.1.1 should be OK for testing.
Maybe this thread could be helpful, e.g. this post, just a wild guess.

I think I should try installing Gucview as well, but it'll have to wait till tomorrow
@rhadon: I have already downloaded that. I was told that it is the latest Lebeca driver in a Windows 7 forum, but it's still not working
Any other ideas please?
