lang_pack_all-0.8-w5.sfs may work on lucid puppy to input various languages.

Spanish language pack doesn't work Subject description: on Lucid Puppy 5.11 |
|
Hi, just wanted to say I tried the Spanish language pack, langpack_es, both the version for LupQ and for Wary5, in Lucid Puppy 5.11 and didn't work. I don't want to switch to LupQ just because of a language pack, so first, if there's a language pack for LP511 I want to try it. At least a language pack for the menu and for ROX filler, since they're the only things I can still see in English when I try to switch LP511 to Spanish without language pack.

Try lang_pack_all-0.9.sfs, supports more than 100 languages for all Puppy-5.x/4.x,
See the top of this topic.

This looks like overkill for my modest needs. I don't want to change my interface to any other language.
All I want is the ability to correctly input Chinese, Russian, German, French, and Spanish text with Seamonkey or Firefox, or some other browser supported by Puppy 5.2.8. For all but Chinese, a simple on-screen keyboard would probably do. For Chinese, I'd prefer to be able to write simplified or traditional characters using a pen tablet or a pen mouse (in which I have considerable past practice), as I suspect keyboard methods would come with a high learning curve.

lang_pack_09.pet (French language)
1) Slacko 99.4 B7 : the pet is good. No problems
2) 3HD puppy (luci 001) the pet is OK but my background disappeared, I get a black background.
I must restart X server to get again my background
Cheers

install lang_pack-0.9.sfs to puppy full install |
|
Hi shinobar,
again I appreciate this lang_pack.sfs.
In order to remaster a custom french Slacko53 version, I got a full install of it.
Keeping the us locale settings, I installed the lang_pack-0.9.sfs using a sfs installer (thanks to Dejan555 forum member).
After doing Menu/.../Countrywizard and choice to fr_BE, the main menu was still english even after redoing restart jwm.
I tried to manualy do:
| Code: | # jwm_font_repair.sh
Warning: Missing charsets in Sring to Fonset conversion
# |
Then the shutdown menu went translated. But sub-menus are not.
I got the same warning when making a pet from lang_pack-0.9.sfs and installing it in a frugall puppy install.
It seems that in both cases not using lang_pack-0.9.sfs in a sfs install process causes a script not to recognize the lang_pack as a sfs. And then brings the warning message.
So my question: how to modify that script to allow whether the lang_pack install from a pet, or from a sfs-installer use?
Thanks for any advice
Cherrs, Charlie

Can be some issues with full install...
As for the menu, extract /usr/share/desktop-directories from the lang_pack-0.9.sfs and manually copy all the stuff in the directory to the corresponding directory, /usr/share/desktop-directories.
Well, i am not sure but i suppose, you can also remaster from flugal install.

Thank you! It works!
I noticed that some Spanish translations were incomplete, missing or had spelling mistakes. I'm checking some existing translations and making new ones, I'll post them here so that you can use them in a newer version of the language pack or when you release a new QuickSet Puppy. How about Racy-Q and Slacko-Q?
