Where to start?
The good news first, or the bad news first?
Maybe the good news first.
It is easier to lower the tone later than to raise it.
I wish I had had known there was a version 2.7 of Gimp a few days ago when I was doing a big project.
There have been a couple of large (to me) issues with Gimp that I have been hoping would be addressed in the next version and they have.
A bit like Windows or Ubuntu users who continually expect the next version to be better, but it never is.
Gimp now does everything the way I have always wished they were done.
That's the good news, and thankyou for making the .sfs available.
Now the other stuff.
I tried on 5 occasions over a week to get this at a reasonable d/l speed. It never happened.
Not only does rapidshare make you enable javascript, they won't let you resume a d/l, or use wget.
Today I finally decided that it wasn't a 'net issue or a temporary glitch with their site that
was causing the d/l to only come at 5.7KB/s, and went and did other things for the 80 minutes it took
to d/l it, instead of about 3 mins.
Presuming that such a low quality site was in the U.S or Spain, I was surprised to discover it is in Germany.
Other German sites still have great speeds.
What has happened to Germany that it has a site with this pathetic level of hosting?
And it has nothing to do with the tired old adage that "You get what you pay for".
Rapidshare it is not. Perhaps rabbitsnare or rabidhare would be more appropriate.

I uploaded the 25MB sfs to http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/lupu-Upup/Gimp_2.7.3_520.sfs
I also compiled a previous version earlier this year and split into 4 parts, you just need the main app to run it, Makes it only a 6.6MB pet, Doc's,Dev, NLS are extras if needed.
http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/lupu-Upup/gimp-2.7.1-i386.pet <--- Main
http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/lupu-Upup/gimp_DEV-2.7.1-i386.pet <-- Dev files for compiling only
http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/lupu-Upup/gimp_DOC-2.7.1-i386.pet <-- Documents for extra reading
http://www.smokey01.com/ttuuxxx/lupu-Upup/gimp_NLS-2.7.1-i386.pet <--- Extra Language files for other than English

hi alfisti,
i think there may be a problem with your gimp.
when i go to save a picture, i get no usable file types. No jpeg, no bmp, no png etc
i get various zip options, bzp etc
can you check that it's not just me
cheers

I know I may have misconstrued your problem, but I read somewhere that the 2.7x series of GIMP has done away with the standard "save as" except for the native XCF format and that to save in other formats you have to use "export" instead?
On another matter if anyone knows of a 2.7.x series GIMP that will run without dbus being installed maybe they could consider posting a message with details. Thanks.

To save different formats go to export, as Peterm321 says.
---
I've been using the gimp2.7.3.sfs with Puppy528 lucid and sfs load 1.2.
when I load the sfs it break the fonts - see thead for image and more details:-
