Problem booting Puppy 2.00 with grub from usb

#1 Post by JPRGO »

Last night I booted Puppy and everything worked, but when I tried to start it this morning it suddenly displays this:

(Just after usb detection)

Code: Select all

ERROR cannot find puppy on usbflash, attempting to kill init
Then it freezes.

Grub code:

Code: Select all

title Puppy Linux.
kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/ram0 PSLEEP=25 PFILE=pup_save.3fs-none-131072 PHOME=sda1 PMEDIA=usbflash
initrd /initrd.gz
Please help, I really need Puppy!

a small chance this might help

No idea if this will help, but I noticed your grub munu.1st entry is different than mine in that I had to explicitly indicate which partition vmlinuz and initrd.gz are as follows:

title Puppy 2 on hda5 (hd0,4)
root (hd0,4)
kernel (hd0,2)/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/ram0
initrd (hd0,2)/boot/initrd.gz

Doesn't sound like this is causing your error, but on the off chance it helps I'm posting it. Most examples I've seen don't have this, yet nothing worked until I added (hd0,2) to those locations and it gave some errors that seemed to imply other problems that weren't really what was wrong. This is easy to try and reverse.
