chainloader +1

Booting from the first works fine. The second however produces an error 13:Invalid or unsupported executable format.. Now commenting out that and attempting to boot from the “good” one also returns error 13.! This is inexplicable. At least to me.

A sharp eye would have noted that the above menu entry refers to sdb1 rather than sda1. It is an edit following the reconnection of the second HD.

Experimenting further the nvidia driver was installed but the command nvidia-xconfig returns command not found.

At this stage boot to 528 was accomplished through bios and selecting the appropriate HD. Having read of difficulties elsewhere of booting from grub2 an attempt was made to use grub2 in Ubuntu installed on the second HD. From that OS an update of grub2 found the above two menu entries as two identical entries :

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (on /dev/sdb1)
Either one can be booted from. This is mystifying to me!

VLC had problems with playing an mkv file with garbled video but satisfactory sound. A check of the file under Ubuntu’s VLC confirmed the file’s integrity and rendered perfectly.

Speaking of speed I must say the the OS boots to a working environment in 14 seconds on my system, half the time it takes to boot into Ubuntu.

Once again my congratulations to the developers who have provided me at least a pride of place OS that is the defacto.

THANK YOU to all the developers and contributors. The puppy linux environment and indeed the linux world has undoubtedly put to rest a claim by a senior person of another operating system that because no ones ass is on the line no good work can come out it. I guess it would be difficult for mercenaries to realise “goodness is its own reward. I hope an oldie can be forgiven for philosophising thus. To me the international free cooperative spirit fostered by the linux community and so freely expressed in the above posts is by far more important than any super OS Very Happy

Hi great post similar story with me really I messed with Ubuntu and Fedora thinking Puppy was just a toy, but when i finally treated like a full blown o/s it took me by the neck and blew me away, how dam refreshing.
