Need Driver for Lexmark X3330 printer (AIO)

#1 Post by saintless »

Hi, people :)

I have a problem finding driver for my AIO Lexmark X3330.
You can see it here.

I run KDpup 484 beta frugal. I download it from here
It has Cups 1.3.8.

I tried those drivers with no luck:

lexmark.z700_cups.driver-1.1.1-1-i586.pet
lexmark-08z-series-driver-1.0.pet
lexmark-inkjet-08.pet
lexz600.pet
lexmark_lz11-v2-1.2.pet

Also no luck with those PPD files from openprinting:

Lexmark-X264dn-Postscript.ppd
Lexmark-X363dn-Postscript-Lexmark.ppd
Lexmark-X364dw-Postscript-Lexmark.ppd
Lexmark-X204n-Postscript-Lexmark.ppd

I need mostly to use the scanner and I know the scanner driver is different from printer driver.

I found some posts in the internet about using PPD printer file from WINDOWS/system32/spool/drivers/w32x86 directory, but my printer doesn't have a PPD file after installation in Win. What do you think about that? Is it posible?

I know PPD file is not enough most of the times to run successful printer with CUPS, but I have an old Star LC-20 dot matrix printer and it works with PPD file from openprinting. I couldn't make it work any other way. In case anyone needs a driver for Star LC-20 I'm attaching the file here.

Thank's!

Since Lexmark doesn't have a Linux driver for this machine and you have tried all the available PETs, I have no other suggestions.

However, some Lexmark scanners work in Puppy without installing an extra driver. Have you tried your X3330 with Xsane?

Thank you for the quick answer, rcrsn51.
Xsane doesn't detect the scanner.
Anyway, it's not a big deal, the next scanner I buy will be more linux friendly :)

The best deals in scanners are old HP AIOs that have been junked because their ink ran out. The scanner part still works fine.

But check that the empty cartridges are still in the machine. Otherwise, it may not start. Also make sure that the power adapter is there.
