5.25 battery drain after shutdown Subject description: Puppy not shutting down properly? |
|
I recently upgraded from 5.1.1 to 5.25.
When I power-off puppy, everything looks normal.
However, if I don't use my EEEPC for a day or so, the next day my battery is dead (I know it was fully charged at shutdown), and at boot it runs file system check as if it was a bad shutdown. Then boots fine.
Anyone else have this prob?
Never had a problem with any other puppy
EEEPC, 5.25, 2GB, running from SDHC card in slot.
PS. Autohide isn't working, also.
Edit........ Battery charging icon is not showing charging, either.
Went back to 5.1.1, all is well.............Weird

Very good that you take up this. Tehre have been other reports on shut down too but this is the best documented AFAIK

I haven't seen other posts. Glad to know it's not just me.
I suspect that puppy goes to suspend or some such state that is not truly off.
Another indicator is that when I start Firefox, It wants to know if I wanted to resume last session. I know I exited FF cleanly, but it starts like it was improperly shutdown the last session.

Eeepc's in the 700 and early 900 versions are infamous for that battery drain. There is a hardware issue. It has been recommended that the battery be removed when not in use to resolve this issue.

Try going to Puppy 5.2.8
It has a lot of updates and bug fixes.
May help.
