I just installed Puppy Studio 3.3 so I don't know what version of Puppy it is based on but the kernel is 2.6.33.5-rt25.. It doesn't recognize my wireless but lspci command shows a Network Controller; Realtek 8176. I also tried a CD of the new Slacko Puppy & it had the same problem. I'm dual booting with Ubuntu 11.10 & it works O.K. & shows a different version off the Realtek network controller RTL8188. I assume its a driver problem but I have no idea how to install the driver even if I can find one. I've been googling for 3 days & nothing has worked.
Any ideas welcome

You probably need the third-party (Realtek) r8192ce_pci wifi driver ...
but since the kernel in Puppy Studio is not shared with any of the official Puppies, none of the extra drivers on this forum will be compatible.

Generally, though, Puppy derivative authors are notorious for happily allowing technical issues with their releases to fall back into the lap of the official Puppy forum, and really support questions like these should be directed to the author/developer of Puppy Studio -

Unfortunately the developer of Puppy Studio is difficult to contact. There's an email link here -

or you might be able to contact the developer on the LinuxMusicians forum

Thanks for the advice.
I'll try those links but I have a feeling its a long shot.
Its ashame because Puppy Linux flies. It runs incredibly faster than Ubuntu. I tried Slacko Puppy too with the same wireless problem. I've found the drivers I supposedly need on the Realtek site in tar.gz files for different kernels but they won't compile. The 'make' command gives me an error.

Well your request for help specifically related to Puppy Studio, but it's sounding like you're prepared to use some other version, so we can help. The r8192ce_pci wifi driver is available for Puppy Lucid 5.28 here –

Thanks tempestuous,
I installed Lucid Puppy 5.28 & the .pet driver did the trick as that's what I'm using while typing this post.
