Hey Geoffrey,

How are you getting week-ahead info for Aldi these days?

For the last few weeks, since they changed from Thursday specials to Wed + Sat specials I haven't been able to get week-ahead specials online.

I must have missed something.

Hi Adagio,

Aldi where I am just opened another store a few weeks back, since then they seem to have changed their catalogs.

Their next special buy sales start on Wednesday the 2nd and Saturday the 5th of November.

The Wednesday sale is full of Xmas stuff and Saturday kids toys and a few electronic items.

Oh, one other thing for sale is a 39cm HD LCD TV does 1440x900 with HDMI USB VGA and a 12volt car adapter, $99.99

I received a catalog last Thursday on the 27th for the up coming sales.

I'm defiantly getting the Android Box, for that kind money it's a bargain, I looked elsewhere, anything similar in functions is over $200.

The thing I like is that a keyboard and mouse can be used with it, though I'm still to check that out, it maybe specific to the box,
as I noticed on there site that a small hand held keyboard with a touch-pad is available,
Well it does say USB keyboard and mouse, so I'm guessing that any should work.
The ad and the website are a little vague, no mention of what it's controlled with,
Well I guess it can be taken back if it's not up to par, seeing that they have a no questions asked return policy.

I presume you got it by email?
I just checked their site again (5.30pm Sun) and they still only have the 29th and the 2nd available, so I have subscribed to their newsletter.
I'll see how that goes.

Thanks.

I get mine weekly along with all the other junk mail, the good old fashioned letter box drop.

I found it here online http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/digital-tv-set-top-boxes/dgtec-hd-android-box-digital-set-top-box/4oeyrrygb.html?source=brand&pageopt=dgtec

Looks nifty. Coupla questions...

(1) anything like this Stateside?
(2) detailed specs?
(3) Geoffrey, if you don't tell me how you got that location text upside down, I'm going to throw a soggy pancake at you!

I had a look at the setup on this one, it only has Australia and Europe, the first thing I did was look to see what countries, I didn't see the US.

The text , I just looked for upsidedown text maker online, then cut and pasted it, I'll add a pic of it running on my tv .

I'll have to do that from the PC as I'm posting from the set top box and loving it Very Happy

Dangit on the thingy not being around in the States.

Thx for the upside-down text explanation, you have been spared a pancaky doom Laughing

Still wanting detailed specs (what's inside... CPU, RAM, HDD if it even has one, etc. -- everything one would ask to know about in the Beginner's forum Wink )

Here a pic of it on my 106cm LCD tv at 1080p, there isn't that much written about it in the manual specs wise,
just what I posted previously and the only other stuff is for the tv side of it, can find no info on the CPU, ram.

All I can tell you is that it has 3 USB ports and a keyboard and mouse work ok using a USB hub with it, it's not super fast but usable,
the google browser default is portable type but is switchable to a classic browser,
youtube works without fault, and will play in HD mode if available, the wireless network was a breeze to setup, it found all my network drives,
so for $80 I can't complain, I'm impressed for what it can do for the price, if I had the spare cash I'd get another one.

Well I had to bite the bullet, all the features on this box are just not up the standard I would expect , the TV function is what I would deem unwatchable
and the media player will not play nearly half of the avi files I have.

So I have returned it, what a shame, I had high hopes that it would be a good thing.
Though the internet function worked well, I couldn't justify keeping it, the cons out weighed pros. Crying or Very sad
