Puppy DVD Case sleeve Subject description: Some puppy linux DVD sleeves created by me |
|
IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE IMAGES THEY ARE BIGGER AND MORE DETAILED
I have created a DVD sleeve (cover) for puppy, i know its not brilliant, but i couldent find one anywhere and am just trying to be helpful, what do you think?
simply place into any office word program and resize to 172mm - 184mm and print
this is the first one i made, i feel the one above looks alot more proffesional:

Although I do like your case sleeve, I do not like that it has a colored background. That is just a waste of printer ink.
With printer paper available in colors, why not just make the sleeve with a blank/white background and let the person using it decide on the color of printer paper to print it on.
That way, any color background could be obtained just by using a different color of paper.
BTW, nice composition and artwork.
Also, if you have it sized before uploading the png graphic, one could print it with applications that come with Puppy rather than having to rely on MS software.

I agree - Great work
I would like to print using laserjet printer, black only, and does not look good as is when printed on white paper.
A white background would be much better

Here in small town USA, the county libraries are closed with the excuse that there are not enough funds to keep them open.
And trying to get a local print shop to put an unknown disk or usb flash to their PC would go across like a lead balloon.

I was not bitching about it as you call it.
I was only making a comment.
Also, I have already loaded the image into Mpaint and Gimp and removed the colored background. So you do not have to bother with that.
My Xerox laser printer handled it just fine.
Also, as I had already stated you did a rally nice job on designing the insert. I just had to dig out one of the large DVD covers to put the printed sleeve insert into.
So again, thank you for your efforts, I appreciate them and I am sure the Puppy community does too!

I've mentioned this in the past (search this forum), but great job, well done. Not sure why anyone thinks you'd be installing software at your print shop.

In Ye Olde Puppy days we did it like so . . .
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=14406#14406
Your design is more up to date
As a minimalist distro we under use ink
(in fact I don't use a printer at all if I can help it)
. . . and my current DVD cases are round
and I would probably use Lightscribe CD's for Puppy
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=334965&search_id=137080991#334965
many thanks

those first ones look bad , really bad
the lightscribe CD's look brilliant
and i find that 3rd link of no use
plus my case gives you the option to add your own kernel number meaning it can be used 'forever', so to speak, and i think it looks alot more proffesional than the ones in the first link
