One other thing that was not mentioned as to the processor, is to check the CPU voltage jumpers if that board has them.
I had a board that had the jumpers set to too high a voltage and the PC would display similar problems.
The voltage was too high and not enough to fry the CPU, and it would shut down as it got hot.
So be sure to check the voltage jumpers on any home built PC.
