Grub problem - hard drive install

#1 Post by W6LQR »

SLACKO installed on ext3 partition with Windoze XP

Started new thread because others seemed to be "Frugal"

Installed SLACKO to Linux partition, all seemed ok but Grub boot from floppy or hard drive results in error messages -

INIT: Plymouth-splash main process (100) terminated with status 2
INIT: Plymouth main process (33) killed by segv signal

Installed again, same error messages. Previously have had PUPPY 5.1, Mint Linux, UBUNTU on the same machine (one at a time) and no problem.

Thanks, Jerry

What are your hardware specs?
(including age of computer)

You might want to test by booting from CD and setting up a save file.
See if you get the same errors.

Could you post your /boot/grub/menu.lst file entry you are using to boot your FULL install of Slacko?

That might help to get some insight as to why you are getting that strange error message.

Also, how did you initially install Slacko as to how you booted it to do the initial install.

Since I don't recall any Puppy releases with Plymouth,it appears your machine is trying to boot into one of the old installs.

For those that don't know,Plymouth is an app that provides a graphical boot splash....not in Slacko though.
