Hi,

I have to apologize for this mess.

I was off the grid for the first time in years (for about a week), FLASH and Barry knew about it, but given recent events I didn't want anyone to take advantage of my absence so I didn't let anyone else know.

As with any perfect storm, for the first time in years the hosting node at the hosting company failed, and when FLASH called them they didn't even bother to look into the matter as he didn't have all my details.

Furthermore they didn't detect the failure at all (which I find amazing, and will be taking up with them).

Either way, I am VERY SORRY ...
I did not set things up well for while I was away.

A failover setup will be in place by the end of the week and in control of someone else.

Cheers
JohnM

John
It has been suggested that a copy of whole Murga forum site be set up, read-only and incrementally updated time to time/[daily?] with rsync and is needed for future reliability
I emailed you with an offer of a free server at my local IT centre, when we were trying to get PLUG implemented.
You said you would look into it when your move was sorted - how are things?
Is there anything we can do....?
The offer still stands, as far as I know

Aitch :)

There is one member over at LQ (take a wild guess) who is still insisting that this forum is offline.Seems to be working but it might be some good Kool-Aid.

the first synchronization will take an huge amount of bandwidth, subsequent updates, being incremental, will need very less bandwidth

however, if John knows some trusted users (or admins) he can give to these people the full dump of database and use rsync only for incremental updates, weekly in hours of low traffic
replace .co.cc with .info to get access to stuff I posted in forum

Glad that this forum is up and running again, reaalll glad ':)
During the short time, I was at puppylinux.info, I noticed that raffy had assigned at least 4 administrators and I'm not sure how many moderators. Maybe it would be a good idea to do so for this forum as well.

Hi John

Never mind about the forum off line for a few days, the important thing is that you are safe and well. (I believe some had uttered concerns  )
