HP F2180 printer prints control characters

#1 Post by JaanBe »

Puppy 5.2.8 with Cups1.4.3
I installed HPLipLite.
HP2180Printer with USB connection is recognized.
I select HP Deskjet F2100 Cups driver - no reacion :(
I select HP Deskjet F2100 HPIJS driver.
When I ask testpage, printer starts printing. :P
Only, I do not see what I expect. :x
Printer prints code characters:
%PDF-1.3
%1234
% This file was generated by pdftopdf
%PDFTOPDFNumCopies : 1
etc....When printing out of an application, same behavior.
What am I missing?

Thanks

Exactly what HPLIP packages have you installed and where did you get them? You shouldn't be seeing both an HPCUPS and an HPIJS listing.

I don't think that your printer will work with the older HPIJS driver, but it should work with HPCUPS. However, if you have already installed several HP packages, it's hard to know what's going on.

I would recommend that you do a fresh install and try the hplip_print package from here.

My HP PSC1610 once got a bit scrambled and started printing raw postscript. It was fixed by turning it off and then on again.
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here
