calibre-0.8.29-i686.sfs

#1 Post by jrb »

I've just uploaded calibre-0.8.29-i686.sfs, the latest release of the Calibre ebook utility. You can organize, read and convert your ebooks.

It has been tested in Lupu528, Slacko53 and Racy522. It will require you to set Locale to UTF-8 which can be changed at Desktop->Country Settings->Chooselocale country localizations (Checkbox at the Bottom)

There is a menu entry on the Documents menu.

md5 = 87a400af690b1fa44f48d9a03d6457c1

Enjoy, J :D

After trying out your SFS, I was able to convince my wife to install the Windows version on her Laptop. I am being driven crazy a little slower now.

Calibre and Kindle V2 under Slacko

#5 Post by minesadorada »

@jrb: Thank you for your work.

I installed calibre in Slacko 5.1 hoping it would be able to connect to my Kindle V2 but no go. Is this as expected? The Kindle doesn't show up as a mountable drive when I plug it in. Other than that, your calibre SFS works 100%.

Calibre connects fine to the Kindle in Win 7 of course :)

In fact I can't convert to anything but can read zip/mobi books fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Smokey,
I just downloaded pg21627-images.mobi (project gutenberg).

Opened Calibre in Slacko-5.3.1, clicked the "Add books" button and chose pg21627-images.mobi, and waited for it to load.

I clicked the "View" button to make sure it was good, closed the view window and then clicked the "Convert books" button. In the convert window I chose Output format as "epub" and then clicked "OK".

Then I used ROX to navigate to /mnt/home/calibre which is my default folder for Calibre, and found /mnt/home/calibre/Keith Laumer/Gambler's World (2)/Gambler's World - Keith Laumer.epub

I haven't tried using Calibre to load files on to a device but I believe that's possible.

Hope that Helps, J

Edit: I wonder if your file has some DRM protection?

jrb thanks for your reply. Once I unzipped the books everything worked as expected.

The book did not have DRM protection.

Thanks
