banannagrams misshap

hey so i am am a huge fan of the game banannagrams. I decided to buy myself a set ( I have been stealing my friends ) but when it got here it was not the normal material the tiles are usually made out of. The tiles are plastic and have a big hollow hole on the bottom. I should have sent them back but unfortunately i waited around too long and now the time window has passed (i got them on amazon)

so does anyone have any ides on how to make them feel like the normal texture?

the normal texture of the tiles are this bakalite substance. Its kinda plastic but not really and it has some weight to it. It has a nice click when you put it on a hard substance.

I was thinking shellacking them? or adding something to the hollowed out back.

I'd try to find something to fill it with that I could remove if I didn't like the result. Candle wax might be a good first try. Just don't set fire to the house.

they must come as a magnetic version, looks like they take a magnet, then you can use them on the fridge
