Audacity .pet for Slacko 531 |
|
I wonder if someone would be kind enough to make an Audacity .pet for Slacko 531.
The PPM version has many missing libs.
Thank you

That's true and it would be nice and useful, indeed...

one other issue; libsamplerate is a bit outdated. I have so.0.1.7 already installed (some other package), which works with audacity. Your package would clobber the links, reverting to so.0.1.1

| Code: | Audacity contains code to use Libsamplerate for resampling,
but this is not enabled by default due to licensing issues. Instead, Audacity releases
use a library called libresample, based on Julius Orion Smith's Resample algorithm.
Libsamplerate can be used if you compile Audacity from source code at the command line,
and configure --with-libsampletate |
Why do people compile audacity with libsamplerate when there is
an open source equivalent??

The libsamplerate that I used was 0.1.2
that I found on the forum
When I compiled the latest version 0.1.8
it was just too big and stripping didn't make
any difference. So I kept the old libsamplerate
in the pet package.
Here's the revised package with the similar
libraries removed

I think it's best not to assume that everyone shares your interest in an older but smaller version of libsamplerate...which you impose by wiping out their links with your package. It's probably best to offer two separate packages, so at least a user has some choice in the matter. Also, when you clobber something and then uninstall your package...guess what...other programs no longer work. Not every user who clicks on your pet knows this.
