ALSA, MIDI, JACK II oder auch RELOADED

#1 Post by RSH »

Hallo,

Danke.

I want to keep the Audio and Video Section alive. From Time to Time I will post some download links and/or some files. If any link is down, please send me a PM. Thank you.

Hallo,

Hey, about the bristol gui. There's a typo in bristol-0.40.8-starter that doesnt let start DX-7 in jack mode. Line 689 it says <action>/usr/sbin/ceelab/Bristol/jack/ristol-dx &</action>
The B is missing

Also, i would make just one script for everything.
I don't know how the GUI works, but you could for example, when pressing the mini, instead of running the bristol-mini script. Run a general script:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
#

exec startBristol -$1 -audio $2 -midi $3 -ar &
sleep 4

exec jack_connect bristol:out_left system:playback_1 &
sleep 1
exec jack_connect bristol:out_right system:playback_2 &

exit 0
Supposing we name it bristolscript. If you want to run the moog mini in the jack tab with alsa midi, it should run:

Code: Select all

bristolscript mini jack alsa
Now we can run all the synths with only one script.
Mine looks like this:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
#

exec startBristol -$1 -audio $2 -midi $3 -ar &
sleep 4

if [ $2 = jack ]; then
exec jack_connect bristol:out_left system:playback_1 &
sleep 1
exec jack_connect bristol:out_right system:playback_2 &
fi
if [ $3 = alsa ]; then
exec aconnect 'Midi Through' 'bristol' &
fi
exit 0
If we use audio jack, it'll auto connect, if not, it'll not even try to connect so it doesn't display any errors in the console.
If we use alsa for midi it'll autoconnect midi through to bristol input. If not, it won't try

Hi capicoso.

Yes, just one script for everything surely would be better. As i wrote the bristol gui i did know nothing about bash. These times i have done more copy and paste stuff and using one script per synthesizer did work - that's all.

I would like to make an update or better a new version of Bristol-GUI - but this might need some time.

Thanks for the post and the code - will keep it in mind.
