These messages are usually wired lan autoconnect related. If its an issue you can disable that in your PC's bios and you wont get the messages.
Yes, the same messages do happen on a normal debian live standard iso. In a server environment this is a feature, in a desktop environment its a curse.
Its good for server things because you can see whatever critical messages are happening without having to even login. All versions of Pussy at this point of asking for user and pass have already booted a webserver and ssh server and telnet server and ftp server.
There is one feature i would like to include in Pussy and that is a unique sequence of beeps to indicate that Pussy has booted correctly and would sound out when the login user and pass screen is displayed. This way if Pussy is being used as a server system with no attached monitor, the user is given a clear indication as to the success of Pussy booting up and being ready.
It just requires the "beep" package. (apt-get install beep)
and an entry somewhere that tells Pussy to beep a few times at different frequencies. To use the beep application, open a terminal and type: beep
Also you can experiment with the options listed in beep --help

Today im moving the website to a new virtual server (VPS) that has 20gb space, this has been the problem in the last month as the current server has only 5GB and this must include the OS etc and i havent had room for the .img version of Pussy. After we move to the new server ill be able to upload img versions of pussy for the server and base versions aswell with room to spare.
Note:
.img versions (actually .img.gz or .img.zip on the website, you must unzip these to get the .img) from this point on are formatted differently than before. These will be images suited best for 2GB usb sticks. However if you have a 1GB usb stick or SD card then dd'ing the image to this will still work, due to the quite flexible nature of the Fat32 filesystem. You will just be missing the last 1GB and this makes no difference as this last 1GB is blank.
On 4GB or larger USB sticks only the first 2gb will be formatted with the Fat32 and Pussy, leaving the rest for you to use to do whatever, maybe use Gparted to extend the Fat32 partition to cover the rest of the drive, or you might like to create an ext type partition in the free space and name it live-rw so that you have save partition working.
The old way only formatted the first 699MB and this is a little wasteful. With the new way of doing things you will have plenty of space free in the Fat32 partition to immediately start using the compressed save file method in catroll-panel.

Ooops it shows how uttrly naive I am. This I did not remember.

I thought such got active only if one requested them to get active.
Is that so in Knoppix too? Why does these messages don't show up
in that Debian variety?
Neither Illume Debian nor Semplice Debian had them.
Crunchbang being 100% Debian had them neither.
How do I put code in boot up so these servers don't get activated at boot?

Hi nooby
i dont know what would be an easy way to stop these server services running. Pussy has been built from the very foundation to run these automatically so that it can be used as a server immediately with no extra configuration needed by the user.
These messages only happen with debian live. Not normal debian so unless the knoppix etc is based on debian live it wont have them. It may be based on normal debian but implement their own live system.
We could completely get rid of the login process but this doesnt work with root, so we would have to run normal and root user apps etc and because im trying to make pussy like puppy in the way it starts with root, we need the login screen due to a debian or debian live limitation.
if you use wifi and not wired ethernet then you can disable your ethernet adaptor in the PC bios so that these messages dont show up.

My poor English rise it's ugly head. My text misled you unintentionally.
Sorry about that.
Sure the messages are annoying but not compared to having a server
or several running. That is a huge security breach as I get it.
Does Puppy have such too?

nope puppy is in no way designed to be a server OS but pussy is.
This also helps normal networking because filesharing via http and ftp work instantly as soon as pussy is turned on.
The way its all setup to have a desktop only pussy and a separate server pussy would be silly, its best to have it all in one. Pussy offers all the technical tools most advanced users would require and they are working immediately when pussy boots. Its not my intention to make pussy a desktop only distro that is missing all the technical features that a linux system should have. This is the second reason i created Pussy, to have all the tech stuff puppy hasnt got, but the first reason is package management

Finally we have moved over to the new server with more space.
I have redirected both domains to the new server:
http://www.thepussycatforest.info
http://www.pussypussypussy.info
I am planning on have 2 separate servers, one as a main and one as a backup from 2 different companies that use 2 different networks, also the 2 domains will be registered at 2 different companies as well, this way if one domain name provider goes bad or there is a network outage, we will still have a failsafe to fall back on. The main server will be thepussycatforest.info that uses fusevps.com as the VPS provider and godaddy as the domain name provider, the pussypussypussy.info i am hoping to host from an australian or UK based company so its on the other side of the world and will use a different domain name provider for it. This will let us remain active even if a nuke is dropped on the USA or UK or there is some other thing that causes a massive network outage.
Also the .img usb stick version of pussy has been uploaded to the new server but it may take upto 24 hours before the domain actually points to the ip of the new server. In other words if its not working now, it will be working tomorrow.
the url for the USB stick image version of Pussy Xtra is:
http://www.thepussycatforest.info/linux/pussy-xtra-beta-preview2.img.zip
Over the next few days, the base and server USB stick versions of pussy will be uploaded as well. We now have plenty of space for all the iso's the .img's and the squashfs files.

| my bet has always been that their vain, rothful god will use an asteroid strike to punish the evil barbarians for their ungodly ways but so far she has only seen fit to warn them with twisters and hurricanes. However i dont see your solution as failsafe. .info would be directed through barbarian servers for association. PussyPussyPussy.com.au or .info.au would be a safer second.

one damn nuke thats all i ask for with me watching in a distance whilst wearing protective eye wear. Apparently there isnt anything louder than an atom bomb. I wouldnt wish the radiation on anyone tho. But i would like to witness some equivalent blast that doesnt have the radiation after effects.
Preferably over the individuals who pull the strings of this over materialistic moral lacking world full of microsofts.
In australia i have no false illusions of privacy, we have some bad ass censoring and i guarantee that every time someone visits my site from my country it sends some bell ringing. You can basicly see the censorship at work here, it takes about 10 seconds longer for the browser to find my site than other sites hosted without pussy in their name on the same server block. Other times early in the morning like 2am there is a complete lack of communication outside australia, google.com.au works and any australian site but google.com doesnt work. I cant help thinking in these hours they are refining the censorship process. I swear if there was some kinda war or something going on that this government wanted to conceal from us, the only people who would find out are those with huge antennaes and CB radios who can receive transmissions from south africa or somewhere.
enough about my ranting....
from past experience it takes approx an hour to register with a sever provider, setup the software on the virtual private server, register a domain and perhaps within that hour the domain name will become active and point to the correct ip, all for about $10.
godaddy sells .info domains for $2 or so. www.fusevps.com have servers for $3.95 a month and its all automatic, about 5 minute setup time from when you fill in the online form and pay via paypal or credit card.
from the time i find out that both the servers arent working, within an hour or so, we can have a new one online. Then there are ofcause torrents.

There was some group in the States, performing a New Zealand tribal
warrior dance, as public entertainment (it's been pretty popular for football
team warmups, local festivities etc, for some years now) and some moron
calls the cops, who showed up ready to disperse a riot, and were
clueless that it was a dance/ceremonial I hope the cops are forced
to wear such native attire while on duty for a week, before they
can receive their next paycheck

this post isnt ONLY a shamless bump but it also contains dribble about hostnames.
In the future (not the muad'ib dune universe future 8000 years from now, but the christian calandar 2012) i am going to release a new server pussy. The hostnme will be changed to something else other than meow. This is so that if you have a server pussy and a normal pussy on the same network their hostnames dont clash.
also i would like to take a survey of how pussy users use \save files, personally i dont use any but i put a couple of scripts in the /drive (boot partition desktop icon) that mounts the rest of the hdd in a /files dir that the script also creates. I also run a swap partition of 500mb.
Do you use the following savefile setup:
1.) live-rw save file that is included with Pussy 1gb
2.) live-rw save file you have created yourself
3.) live-rw save partition on a HDD
4.) live-rw save partition on a sd card or usb stick
5.) Use Pussy regularly but dont run a save file.
I would like to know this information for whatever nefarious purposes you can imagine. If you can imagine it, then my real motives are alot worse and more immoral. Im not bad man, but some may say misled.
Let me lknow your thoughts or else put a tin foil cap on your head mwuahahahahahahaaaaa yes im patting a cat right now and yes its more evil than even I.

Hi, Sickgut,
I use the compressed save file for making different squash files with the changes and:
1.) live-rw save file that is included with Pussy 1gb
2.) live-rw save file you have created yourself

I dont use a save file in pussy.
Three files from racy will make xdelta work in pussy. xdelta3, xdelta_gui, and gtkdialog3 just copy them into the same place in pussy and then click xdelta_gui

Thanks, Aarf, I took those three files from KDpup-484 and it works also. The files are in those two directories in KDpup: /usr/sbin and /sbin
