Epson Photo 820 Printer Problems

I have an Epson photo 820 printer.
I installed it using the puppy installer.
The printer goes through the motions like it is printing, the head moves back and forth and it feeds the paper, just like normal.
But the paper is blank!
The printer will print if I boot in windows and run the head cleaning
software.
Then I boot Puppy and the printer will print just fine, except
that it only prints in black and white (no color).

I was just curious if there might be a way to add a little more function to the printer control panel for head cleaning and color options?

Anybody have any ideas in this area?

Here are some specs on this PC.

2ghz athlon processor
1.25 gb of ram
AC97 sound
Mach Speed MOBO
19'' Xerox LCD Monitor
Altec Speakers.
40 gb drive
4 partitions (with different versions of puppy loaded)

Have a look at the HowTo section of the forum under how to print with cups. The cups driver will give you full color functionality but I'm not sure if head cleaning is included.
