Adobe AIR Installation?

#1 Post by Ermak »

I use a program called BusyBee Invoicing and it does run on linux, but requires Adobe AIR to run.

The Adobe website seems to provide some help for installing on Ubuntu, but notes that AIR has been discontinued development for Linux.

I wanted to know if anyone has installed AIR, has any advice about installing it on Lucid 5.2.8, or can offer any other help on the subject.

Thanks in Advance for any help.

I'd start here first. That links to a thread where a remedy is explained.

If that doesn't work for you, we can move on to try other things.

Hi emak

i've made a busy bee .pet for you that seems to work. I don't know if it's fully functional though! you'll have to test it.
some air apps work ok on puppy, and some don't..

It's worth noting that adobe has stopped developing air for linux, so as newer air apps are released, they are going to be less likely to work on linux.

you can download busy bee here

let me know how you get on

Busy Bee Using Adobe AIR Works!

#4 Post by Ermak »

Thanks TheAsterisk! and 666philb !

I tried the download link from 666, but it didn't seem to want to connect and download. (though I am grateful for the .pet time and effort )

I ended up going back to the original post from 666 and following the instructions there.

That worked well and the program launched.

The only odd thing there is this error.
[ErrorEvent type="error" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Unhandled exception Error: Configuration file "/root/AIR/bin/config/update-config.xml" does not exists on disk" errorID=16808]
I think a little file shuffling should fix that problem though, don't you think?

Anyway, I am very grateful for the help and advice for both of you.

Long live Puppy!
