SEARCHING; Ways to search the forum for problems/solutions

#62 Post by oui »

hi

example of very effective search using google:

site:murga-linux.com/puppy quirky 1.2 kde 4 video kdenlive

if you already did see one adequate discussion and know an author or you search one of your discussions you can add the option Author:

for example (I am interesting to see if it works  )

site:murga-linux.com/puppy Author:oui "SEARCHING; Ways to search the forum for problems/solutions"

good searching!

salut

PS I did not found immediately the second! perhaps it is to new and I have to wait sometime

Yes! It was the matter, it works now!

But please don't tip only 'ENTER' but press on the 'Search' button!

see p2 for updated version

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=62236

Thanks for the suggestions Oui!

It is always good to know the tricks for making a
search more effective and efficient.

This method works through the Scroogle Scraper
as well.

Hi all,

I can't use the WellMinded search anymore - nothing is working. Is it just me or is there has it disappeared?

If you mean the wellminded search page linked to in this post, it works fine for me.

Yeah, that's the one. At least I know the problem is at my end. Norton must have blocked it. Don't know why though.

Thanks Flash.

Are you fed up with google instant?

see here for a fix by monsie - thanks

Also, another way of getting away from google search, is to use a different search engine, there are many that do not scrape your data/invade your privacy/log your search habits

http://www.thesearchenginelist.com/

There may well be others not included!

Looks like wellminded.com no longer exists. That would eliminate search option #2.

New wellminded Puppy Linux Search Engine

#78 Post by tuxtoo »

As wellminded.com is no more I have created another one based on the original. The only difference being that the app search covers more Puppy sites than the original.

Why not bookmark http://wellminded.net63.net/ as your new Puppy Linux search engine.

The only difference being that the app search covers more Puppy sites than the original.

[Update, Aug 2019]

After a somewhat lengthy hiatus from Puppy Linux I have updated the Puppy Linux Search and it includes the following websites in the search:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/
http://wikka.puppylinux.com/
https://412collection.neocities.org/
http://412collection.indogo.org (for older browsers)
http://dokupuppylinux.info
http://dotpups.de

I like to wget the whole forum and grep it. LOL - Not really but I would have a better chance of finding things that way!

I think you can actually use Google and use puppy linux in the search box with anything else your searching for, like: Puppy Linux Wi-Fi
