Racy, Slacko CDs burned with AShampoo won't boot

Hi, I have just downloaded the iso for both:
slacko-5.3.1-SCSI-MAIN and
racy-5.2.2

I have burned each one to a separate CD. However when I try and boot I get:

Loading drivers needed to access disk drives.
Searching for Puppy files ...pausing.puppy_slacko_5.3.1.sfs not found. Dropping out to initial-ramdisk console...

And then nothing.

When I used Puppy a long time ago it just sort of worked and asked for keyboard layouts etc and screen layouts and then booted to the GUI desktop.

What am I doing wrong. I basically want to use GParted to sort out some partition problems on a number of desktop pcs.

How did you burn the iso image to the CD?
In the burner program you used, did you select burn iso image?
What files are on the CD?

Hi, I burned the iso file using the iso burning part of AShampoo. I have never had any problems before doing this. The CD boots OK.

On the disk there are:

DISTRO_SPECS
README.txt
bin
dev
etc
init
lib
mnt
proc
pup_new

pup_ro3
pup_ro4
pup_ro5
pup_ro6
pup_ro7
pup_ro8
pup_ro9
pup_ru

These are the files that show up once booted.

If you view the cd normally the only file on the disk is:
slacko-5.3.1-SCSI-MAIN.iso

To burn the iso image to a CD that will be a boot-able Puppy you need to use burn option Burn ISO Image.
When the CD image is made the CD will have these files on it.

Sorry for the confusion, but my cd works without any problems so I must have burned it correctly.

Puppy starts to boot up and then displays the message as per my original thread.

This is a puppy issue not how I burned the CD.

Snute, I'm confused. Does your CD boot or not? You say you can see certain files once the CD has booted, which would seem to imply that it boots. When you say it doesn't boot, do you mean that it doesn't boot all the way to a desktop?

My CD boots to a SlackoPuppy image then starts to boot up and then displays:

if at the# i type the ls command that is the list of files that i see.

Puppy does not boot to a desktop.

I basically want to use GParted to sort out some partition problems on a number of desktop pcs.

A couple of options to explore:
1) Can you see if the disk boots on any of the other computers? That way we can hone in on the problem (whether its computer specific or something else)

2) if puppy doesn't boot to a desktop (it should, as you point out), at # type

Recent puppies try to boot to desktop immediately on their own, but this will give you more options.

4) If you are mostly interested in Gparted, and you had luck with an earlier version of puppy, maybe give those a go?

If you can not boot with puppy live CD.
Get message unable to find SFS file.

Boot with Puppy live CD
At boot screen select F2 key
Try using one of these boot options

1. puppy acpi=off

2. puppy acpi=on

3. puppy ide=nodma

4. puppy ide=nodma acpi=off

However, I am not sure the CD was made properly.
Can you determine if the puppy_slacko_5.3.1.sfs file is on the CD?

It would also help if you could give details regarding your computer system. Laptop, desktop, hard drive, memory, video display, etc? Otherwise there is little to go on.
