[Solved] Openbox has missing tray icons cpu and glipper |
|
When I start Openbox with exactly the same configuration it misses two tray icons compared to JWM-
it shows firewall, frisbee, pupmem, speaker, clock but misses
glipper and cpu
--
JWM shows all seven items, when X start with openbox glipper shows then vanishes.
I'm using Puppy 5.29
solution
Quote: | Solved this, go to:
PuppyMenu -> Desktop -> Fbpanel configuration
most of the icons are set under the tabs 'plugins' and 'Pplugins'
however you need to select the options in the correct order, else some will revert to default. |

have you checked the tray settings? (menu --> desktop settings )
I find that the tray tends to be "fragile" and sometimes gain or lose icons and settings when I switch window managers

If you are using openbox window manager then there is fbpanel (menu panel). Use desktop - desktop settings - Fbpanel (default panel) configuration. Choose tab "Plugins" and set "Show cpu monitor" as "true". Return to tab "Main" and click ok.
I found that sometimes it doesn't keep the other settings at startup - so just improve them before clicking ok.

thanks for the help, I've tried looking at desktop settings but found nothing about number of icons...
I knew about the fbpanel cpu monitor option but I wonder why the xload one disappears. This thread tells the difference between xload and cpu usage-

would be good to get to the bottom
