SimpleShot is a gui front end for scrot and will do what you want - script is bash / yad so easy to hack if you want some other functionality.

Can someone modify mtpaintsnapshot.sh to include this feature, or has it been done already... stu? don570?
For me (and likely many others) this would be preferable because I like to run a lean Puppy... i.e. without a lot of duplication of applications just to get an extra feature here and there.

Hi,
Screeny from 01micko is tiny and will take a screenshot of a window:

Not exactly what you asked for, but it might suit at 2KB + 12KB for xwd.

Thanks for the tip Jasper, I wasn't aware that Mick had made this tool.
I downloaded both pets, and tried it on my Wary Puppy desktop. I found it works very well, so it means that in future, any screenshots I upload to the Forum when posting will be a lot smaller.
I found one minor issue in that although I was able configure Screeny to start with my PrtSc key, it would not save any screenshots using this method... have no clue why. Conversely, mtpaintsnapshot.sh works from the keyboard just fine. So, I will post this problem in Mick's thread that you referenced for me and see what he thinks.
