Use puppy as proxy? |
|
Which program does one need to run a private proxy?
The problem I want to solve is this:
I often visit friends in Germany. Some internet tv broadcasts from the Netherlands are only offered to Dutch IP adresses. There are lots of proxies available but they are too slow for streaming video.
My provider in the Netherlands may fast enough upload speeds, so I want to use a computer at home and leave it on, then log in at it from Germany, and use my home IP adress.
Do I need some remote desktop program or something else, some private vpn perhaps? I am quite new in this...A link to a good non-geek, plain English manual would be lovely.
thanx in advance!

Here's a post referencing ASRI's dansguardian SFS
The link works, here's a translation, from the French
http://tinyurl.com/7up2xnr
I don't usually install, just run something like http://www.2proxy.de/ in a browser...it is OK with youtube, if that helps
Try sending them the http://www.2proxy.de/ link and the web address for the tv shows you watch, and see if it works before you get involved in setting up remote stuff

Here is the new sfs file tested on puppy lucid and puppy precise
size 30 Mo
http://9giga.sfr.fr/n/50-17/share/LNK7667517ffbc1a38ed/
Install the sfs
find your ip adress
go to /root/filtrage
run dansguardian_ip1.sh
give your ip adress
restart xserver
Squid and dansguardian start after a few seconds
you just have to configure browsers'proxy of your network with 2 parameters
ip you have entered
port 3128 for squid or port 8080 for dansguardian
If you want only use dansguardian, for more security you can use iptables to forbid 3128 port entry...
