(it-en language and all the libs):

Would you mind if I ask you some tutorials on how to compile GCompris from source? What are needed and step by step instructions. I am very poor at compiling things like these. By the way I am using Lupu 528. Thank you in advance.

It needs some libs (from some tools),
on ./configure show the libs need and i download and compiled the needed libs
it is the last version, do you need to compile for new kernel?
you have to compile alse the applications with the libs...

This "killer app" deserves fame and glory among users of Puppy 528 (and similar Lupu series Puppies).

Now that your excellent wares have been re-uploaded, I've had no trouble downloading, installing and running your pet package on a very old, low-specification PC (Pentium II 266Mz CPU; FX5200 video card - with Nvidia driver from the PPM; and around 700 MB of RAM), but I'd recommend using a PC with at least a Pentium III CPU for snappier performance.

For those who may be experiencing difficulties downloading, I chose the slower, free download option from Speedyluck's repository at "rapidgator.net", entered the anti-robot code, and received the gcompris-it-12.01-i486.pet package in about 20 minutes. (Extra note: The "language pack international" - ie, the extra "NLS" pet package - is not needed by those of us whose default language is English... only the menu entry is in Italian.)

For those interested in other educational games for Puppy 528 (and similar Lupu series Puppies) that will work on old, low-specification PCs, I've had success with kdeedu_511.sfs (27.6 MB) by sidders. Please see the discussion forum thread Advanced Topics >> Additional Software >> REQUESTS >> "Looking for HanSamBen" for the relevant details, including hyperlink and password. Sidders' kdeedu_511.sfs includes ktuberling, blinken, kgeography and klettres.
