Micro USB is the correct one.
Adaptors are readily available to convert between them.
If you can get a Blackberry charger for a $1 which gives out 700mA
then you are in business.
Just make sure they aren't the knock-off ones.
I have come across some cheap Nokia imitations before and the specs written
on the unit is no where near what the unit can actually deliver for extended
periods of time.

Very exciting. How near to having Puppy on Arm are we? I can't be doing with these bloated Debian / Arch distros
By the way, have you any tips on getting the Debian image to run on qemu on Puppy? I have managed to get as far as logging in, but couldn't get "startx" to work. I have had to resort to Windoze to have a play with the RPi OS
Also, I still haven't got the pup rec thing to work. I may have to do a frugal install of Slacko - so I can make a video.

There are a lot of ways of going about this.
If an experienced Puppy developer compiles in a virtual ARM environment, I would prefer to download and use that ISO.
Failing that taking an existing ISO (probably Debian) and modifying to make the size smaller and the applications Puppy like, will be a good pre-alpha - somewhere to work from.
Other options are woof2 and Iguleders methodology.
Barry I am hoping is also gearing up (after the release of Wary/Racy 5.3)
for an ARM release.
Have written to Myra at Rpi to confirm Barry is getting an early board.
The absolute beauty of us all using the same hardware is 'just works' reliability.

I just followed the instructions at
CNX software's page.
I've made a .pet of my build of qemu. You can get it here.
There's also a copy of my launch shell script (you'll have to change the paths to to where you have your zImage and debian root file system).
Here's a screen-shot to prove it works!

Hi Lobster:
The file I have called deb.ext4 is the root file system of the Debian image provided by RPi foundation. I extracted it using the instructions on this page (although I think is should work with the full image also).
You seem to have 2 references to the Debian image, Lobster, the "-kernel" section needs to point at a Linux kernel. I've used the zImage that you can download at the same page I linked to above.

Had a go with your instructions (many thanks).
This time qemu came up almost instantly and the linux image seems to have loaded and then Linux ARM Debian (Rpi ver) started to boot
but then . . . see enclosed image
In the instructions you provided can I use their 'offset' setting or do I have to run the command and get my own?

Things we need to look at are ISO remastering in Debian
So basically we can cut debian to Puppy essentials - and use aptget to add Puppy programs.
If we can boot into JWM (preferably) have the icons and programs Puppys are familiar with
this would be a great pre-alpha or even build to bootstrap from . . .

To extract the root filesystem, I did use the "file" command to check, but the numbers were the same.
It looks like the problem was mounting the root file-system (do you think that was it?) I'd have a go at extracting it as per those instructions.
Then you'll have to give me more advice on doing things like getting JWM. Could be difficult w/out network.

oh yeah . . . for sure . . .
. . . actually I was promised an A board (never happened) no ethernet
anyway if getting QEMU going - we are moving in the right direction . . .
With network
we go to the command line
I think we may have to go sudo (to become a superuser)
and then apt-get install jwm
There is also a way of checking if jwm is available
If you type
apt-cache show jwm it might already be there? (no need for network)
OK back to my boot up problem . . .
