I did a search in Advanced->Hardware->Wireless for RTL8101/2E but didn't come up with anything specific to this adapter.
How do I (re)post in that forum? Just add a link to this one?

That's too bad. You can delete it from the Puppy Package Manager.
That driver appears to support your model, but I notice that the Realtek site only shows the RTL8192E as a Windows device.
Tempestuous is the real expert on Wifi drivers. He will eventually see your post and provide better advice.

SCO Unix 5.0.6 and 5.0.7
1.02 2006/6/21 22k HK UK1 CN US2 US1 US3 | but nothing for Slacko. Can I use the first one?
If so where to find destructions?
I'd like to have a go especially as I can do no harm on a clean install.
Then I found this http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=34159 which appears to suggest that the RTL8102E is already supported?

Your next best choice would be an install of Lucid Puppy with one of the Realtek drivers from here.
I believe that these are the same drivers as in my package above, but for the Lupu kernel.

In Slacko 5.3.x that PCI device ID is definitely supported by the standard r8192e_pci driver ...
... but the firmware is missing !!!
rcrsn51 provided a driver dotpet which contains 3 vendor-supplied drivers, and of these, the rtl8192se driver is definitely compatible ...
but this new driver will compete with the standard driver, and both drivers are then likely to fail !!
Here's what I suggest you do - first delete the driver provided by rcrsn51, by using ROX to browse to
/lib/modules/2.6.37.6/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/rtlwifi/rtl8192se/
then delete the file "rtl8192se.ko"
Now run this command -
Now install the firmware for the standard r8192e_pci driver, from the dotpet I now attach.
Then reboot, and run the Network Wizard.
If any further problems, run the "dmesg" command, and look for clues about how the r8192e_pci driver loaded.

Well, tempestuous I sort of did what you suggested
i.e. I thought pup had crashed, (which it wasn't), so I did a clean full install and checked the driver you mentioned wasn't there.
(The 'crash' turns out to be an involuntary hibernate a minute or so after booting)
Then I downloaded your pet and installed, then reboot.
Not working. | Code: | # dmesg | grep RTL
Linux kernel driver for RTL8192 based WLAN cards
r8169 0000:03:00.0: eth0: RTL8102e at 0xf820c000, 00:24:54:3c:66:9c, XID 04c00000 IRQ 40
# | I looked into 'Load a Network Module" but the driver isn't there. So I checked for loaded drivers | Code: | # lsmod | grep r8
r8169 26161 0
mii 2710 1 r8169
r8192e_pci 236882 0
# | and it looks like the driver IS loaded? But Network Wizard, although it sees the rtl819xE module is loaded gives me an error message | Code: | | "Error! Failed to raise interface wlan0. ... Error returned was: ifconfig: SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device" |

Running "dmesg" was a good idea ... but restricting its output with "grep RTL" was a bad idea.
Run dmesg again, and this time look for all information relating to how the r8192e_pci driver loaded.
