Puppy 2 ramblings

#1 Post by M.Gregg »

Hi,

I have noticed that there seem to be more people downloading puppy 2 opera.
I wonder how many people that down load let it seed after? I do not see many!
I suppose this could be that i have them stored on the hard drive install.
I seed through azureus when i can and i have all versions but puppy 2 opera seems to be the most down loaded. I find that the sea monkey version is for some reason more usable on my system. The mouse worries me with the menu showing all over the screen when i use the touch pad mouse in pup2.

Just some ramblings that may be of interest.
Still prefer 1.09 CE though!

Regards
Michael

Hi,

STOP!

Sorry all but I am worried that puppy may become a victim of its own success!
I look at puppy now as it is progressing and puppy linux is a fantastic distro, however "puppy will be all things to all people" 1.09CE comes as close as i can imagine. It works as a stable mini and hard drive install with icewm and KDE all working well.

Puppy 2 is great as a mini disk distro hard drive install is twitchy. Now Puppy 2.02 with NTFS write is excellent but xorg and mouse are a problem.(I know it is in testing).
I would like to see perhaps a stable distro based upon Puppr 2.02 NTFS write with icewm and option to install KDE for Hard Drive install. (I just like open office and K3b).

My concern is that I feel like I am at a meeting with everyone talking at once.
I agree with Lobster with the choice of Browser. (In Pawed cast).

A lot of people use puppy in mobile form Laptop but the stability of the mouse is a problem in 2.00.
Please can we have some positive direction!
I am aware of the real hard work going on and i do not want to stop people having fun because that is the foundation stone of Puppy!

If I am out of order i appologise, I hope people will comment here honestly and openly keeping the positive drive for Barry and all concerned!

Kind regards
Michael.

You're not out of order, or at least I don't think so, but Puppy is still being developed. You've got to realize that working out the bugs is going to take time. Have faith, or hope, or something. :lol:

I just noticed the new Azureus down load from this link is a lot better than the last one:

Hi,

Could i please draw your attention to this link:

I am wondering if this is also the cause of the mouse problem!

Kind regards
Michael

If you have a Synaptics Touch Pad, try this dotpup (works with 2.02):

http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?t=7955

This disables "touch to click" by default, but can be re-enabled and adjusted. If you only want the Start menu to pop up when you click on it, edit /root/.jwmrc

Change this line (near the top):
<RootMenu label="Menu" labeled="false" height="0">
To this:
<RootMenu label="Menu" labeled="false" height="0" onroot="0">
Then restart JWM.
