How to enable IPv6 in Puppy 5?

I have installed a new modem that makes IPV6 possible, and switched IPv6 on at my provider. I can now use IPv6 addresses in addition to IPv4 addresses on all my boxes (Vista and Ubuntu) except the one that runs Puppy Linux 5.2.5. How can I enable IPv6 on the Puppy box? I found http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=25098. The scripts (/usr/sbin/net-setup.sh & /etc/rc.d/rc.network) listed there are older than those actually included in 5.2.5. I am not sufficiently knowledgeble to risk using these older scripts. |

I am bouncing this thread because many ISPs are now running dual stacks with IPv4 and IPv6. Are Puppy and variants now compatible with a native IPv6 connection? Testing on Racy 5.2.2 it appears that the kernel is IPv6 ready but the ipv6 kernel module is not automatically loaded. It can be loaded by typing at terminal: # modprobe ipv6 Output for # ifconfig then shows an inet6 addr:
LATER: To get the ipv6 module to autoload on boot it is necessary to edit /etc/rc.d/MODULESCONFIG . In line 31 edit ADDLIST=' ' to ADDLIST='ipv6' _________________ Opera browser SFS package for Precise, Slacko, Racy, Wary, Lucid, Quirky, etc available here |

after doing modprobe and making changes to my ipv6 address and creating a tunnel i was able to use ping6 ipv6.google.com however im not able to browse any websites thru mozilla seabird.any ideas how to get past it ? could it be related to any firewall blocking issue ? |

As I understand it using a tunnel you are actually using ipv4 to talk to the tunnel provider who continues the connection as ipv6 and then returns replies to you as ipv4. There is an ipv6 setting in Seamonkey. In the address bar type about:config and then search for ipv6. I think ipv6 is 'on' by default in later versions. However, as you are using a tunnel as far as the browser, router and firewall are concerned you are using ipv4 so that does not seem relevant. In my post above I was discussing native ipv6 connections not tunnels. it is working now.I just had to restart mozilla seabird and i was able to browse ipv6 websites on puppy Linux .
just wanted to be prepared for the ipv6 world launch day on jun 6th 2012 , http://www.worldipv6launch.org/ |
