Puppy for netbooks

#1 Post by brymway »

Ive got a 10 inch eeepc with n270 processor. Something like a 1015 hab or something like that. I've spent two days looking for a copy of puppeee for the atom but can't find anything. I'm running #! now on it but I'd like the speed of puppy. Is anyone developing any puplets for the Atom netbooks?

jason I give no criticism I am just curious.
It says "This is Puppeee with Eee-specific functionality removed and a full size kernel and a full Xorg with DRI, Mesa, and Nouveau. "

So him using an EEEPC and if Jemimah have removed the drives that
she had in puppeee from Fluppy then is that so ideal?

I don't remember which puppy that I used because
I don't have my EEEPC in working condition. I use Acer now.

But maybe I have the code on the forum somewhere. the link
in my signature may find it if one are good at using that one.

brymway tell us how it goes. If you have #! installed that
have to be a full install? or else it would not boot?

So are you talking about a full or frugal install of Puppy?
You can test Snow Puppy by pemasu he retained many drivers
from Puppee. I used Snow puppy 5 which where based on Lupu 513.
But maybe the later more modern ones will boot too.
I had the sda1 for the boot menu and sda2 or sda3 for the frugal install.
That worked well for me.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

I tested 3 Puppies today.
Read my posts.

Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz
Socket Designation: PBGA 437

I would go for

1>> Dpup Exprimo version 5.X.3.2.7

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... &start=150

2>>Updated Lucid ISO 005

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... start=1695

3 >> Saluki 019

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... start=2760

Try those....Chris.

Puppeee and fluppy are unmaintained. Saluki is the successor of fluppy and primary tested on an Eeepc. I highly recommend checking it out. http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=73687

Probably your only other good option is dpup or one of pemasu's other puplets.

Ok I downloaded the saluki iso. Had to use vanilla 5 series to make a bootable usb. Looking at the file it only has initrd, ldlinux.sys, syslinux.cfg, and vmlinuz. Dont I need a sfs file? This lupu version has one. I downloaded another puplet recently onto usb and upon trying to boot from it the computer said it couldn't find the sfs file.
