Hello everybody!

Sometimes Is necessary to have opened two windows vertical or horizontally (filling the whole screen)

Well I searched some packages, for example X-Tile and Dwm, they can be installed, but they don't work yet

Can anybody tell me how to do it?

Indeed this is a need, in particular to compare versions of documents.

I do not know X-Tile, and I only heard of dwm, which I know is a window manager.

However, I know the echinus window manager can tile windows quite easily (I've used it), and we have a recent version, curtesy of forum member aragon. Perhaps you can be interested in it? Smile

Hi musher0!

Well, Is there a user guide?, because I have some questions:

- Can this window manager keep the default Task bar?

- How to set just 2 windows vertical and horizontally? (I don't need 3 or more windows filling the whole screen). I mean 2 windows (same size) filling the whole screen

- If I use Echinus, there are some shortcut keys which don't work (for example to maximize-minimize windows), Why?

what's wrong with resizing two (or more) windows, e.g. attached ...

Hi guys!

Barkin and sfeeley you are right, by default Puppy Linux and Rox-filer have ways to manually resize the windows, I mean that's not very quick!. So I have been looking for a way to do it faster and automatically

musher0, thank you!, Also I was trying by myself to change the default values and I got it. Now I can enjoy your window manager echinus. (everything OK). thanks a lot!

semme, that script would be perfect (without use of resources and RAM), but i can't get that work. Slacko doesn't have openbox and Lucid can't execute it. Please Could you tell me how to use it with Slacko or Lucid?

Unless you're not happy with Echinus, you need both wmctrl and x11-utils in order to test..

Well Echinus is excellent

But reading your first link it says window managers use RAM, so If there is another way to tile window without use of resources and RAM that would be better, right?

Yeah, but if you don't notice- does it matter? Probably only spikes during keystrokes...

There is a .deb to tile windows here;
ftp.unixdev.net:/pub/debian-udev/pool/main/t/tile/
I made a pet so it could be used from the main menu.
