You didn't comment on anything I asked. On top'a that- you got ahead of yourself.
For wired, try the first here. I'm not sure which mode your phone's gotta be in..

It seems that the bluetooth driver is loaded : rfcomm ..
It seems that bluez package is not installed correctly ..
While i was trying to compile cups i compiled bluez without having the need for it :
Simply configured on Puppy 4.3.1 -> likely runs on later Puppies ;
goes to /usr/local/bin .. /lib .. /share .. /doc BUT /etc ! -i686 !

After you get bluetooth working, See Here for how I connected to a Samsung Instinct.

Here's your exit code: "The link was terminated because the peer is not responding to echo requests."
Is this how you have your phone set up? Pages 20 and 21 for pairing.
After you run the above mobile routine, is there anything that stands out in /var/log/messages?

it is normally not possible to connect to the device by two programs.
most programs lock /dev/tty* by a lock file in /var/run/*
for example : if i am having "cu -l /dev/ttyUSB0" running , pppd on another console would refuse to connect .
i am wondering which config file your pppd uses ?
the echo requests things can be adjusted in /etc/ppp/peers/gprsmm file for pgprs-connect .
