How to install Chromium in Slacko 5.3.3? (Solved) |
|
I am not a total newbie, but this one has me stumped.
Default browser works fine, using slickpet intalled chromium (tried all 3 versions) but it will not start. On fresh live CD and after HD install, it does not work. Installing opera works fine.
I would very much like to use chromium, anyone know a solution?

not sure what u mean, after I insert the bootable CD and trying it out even before the HD install, chromium won't install where the Opera and default browser work.

Well, you said you weren't a total newbie. See- I am a TOTAL novice. The difference is in what peeps claim..
If there's a *console* icon on your desktop- open it and type: chromium
Does it complain about running as root or is there an error caused by a missing libgconf2?

chromium on the console gives "illegal instructions", see it in the "internet" tab but clicking no response. Gimp installl works fine.

I appreciate all the help.
I used pfind and tried google-chrome, chromium-browser, chrome, chromium, google-browser,all with "no files found"
I don't see the file under the folders either, /usr/..., /root/... folders either

Was Pfind set for "personal" or "system" files? If you have Chromium- IT'S THERE!

U R right!, I have to type in capital C(hrome) in pfind. It is under /usr/bin. How do I get this activated to start the browser?
