Oolite / Elite

#1 Post by Caravan Monster »

Relative newbie here, I'd like to attempt to follow the how to pet packaging tutorial to create a pet for oolite in lupu 528. Is this a feasible project ?

You may not need to make a .pet. I just downloaded the linux version and it installs automatically. I haven't tested it yet, but it looks okay so far.

@Caravan Monster
Does it work for you?

@antiloquax
Do you remember, which Puppy you used? Also which graphic driver? Devx? Additional programs?

I tried Slacko 5.3.1, Lupu 528, Lupu 528.005 and your RacyPi. All with working acceleration (xorg-high/mesa), but I can't use ATI proprietary graphic driver. Also installed xdg-utils.

Everytime I get

Code: Select all

sh-4.1# oolite
/opt/Oolite/oolite.app/oolite-wrapper: line 68: 13263 Aborted                 ./oolite.app/oolite $@
Trying to run oolite directly, gives some messages about missing files (found in .../oolite-deps/lib/). Solved, but now oolite exits without any further message.

Any idea?

Btw. and offtopic: I like RacyPi. A very good idea, knocking at the door of Raspberry Pi. Also a good opportunity for learning python. Only the wallpaper is terrible (logo truncated at top and bottom, and at least for me, this orange is too intrusive) and no text under the desktop icons. But changing this is not a big deal for me :wink: .

Well done,
Rolf
Ich verwende "frugal", und das ist gut so. :wink:
Raspberry Pi without Puppy? No, thanks.

Hi Rolf,

I think I was using Racy there (either RacyPy or the original version). I'll have another look and see if I can shed any light on the problem.

Thanks for your comments on RacyPy. I'm sorry you don't like the wallpaper - I am not very experienced in making such things, but I liked pacer106's "puptie" image. If I do another version, I'll use one of his slick wallpapers!
Personally I don't like text under icons on the desktop - you're right I should not have foisted this preference on other users!
