I assume you're talking about a multisession Puppy.
So the CD did boot, just not with the changes you made? If so, Puppy should be able to mount the CD or DVD and see what's on it. If a session was saved, it should be on the disk.
How much RAM do you have? Also, I think the disk needs to be in the same drive it booted from in order to save to the disk.

I burn't the live dvd using burniso2cd
The cd was burn't using pburn
Both were burned at a slow speed..6x
Both are set for multisession
I have a Plentiun D dual core 3.0ghz with 2gb of ram
Both the cd and dvd boot fine..they just do not save any changes I have made
Cd and dvd are in the same drive that they are booted from
Mounting both disc and no squeezesave.2fs files are found
I have tried saving with disc mounted when shutdown I get an indication session saved
When saving with disc unmount I get an error unable to mount disc
I have saved Macpup with the same pc and disc drive so I have to assume it is dpupexprimo that has a problem

Here's what I see in ROX when I mount my multisession DVD. The seven dated directories at the top are saved sessions. When Puppy boots, the contents of the sessions are loaded into RAM and then Puppy's layered filesystem combines them with the sfs file after it is loaded.

I have all the files for booting the only difference is the name of the distro
I do not have any of the save files like yours
I have checked every time after trying to save and no .2fs have ever been saved
I have been told that the .2fs is not the best that .3fs or.4fs would be better
There is no panel to change the type of fs files
Any other suggestion that I can try !!!

I think you're overthinking this. For one thing, the filesystem on the DVD is, as far as I know, not changeable, and since multisession Puppy loads into RAM and runs entirely from there, I'm not sure what kind of filesystem it uses, but I'm pretty sure it is not 2fs, 3fs or anything like them.
Tell you what, try making a multisession DVD of some other version of Puppy, for instance Racy, and see if it works like it ought to. You can use a rewritable DVD if you have one. Multisession Puppy works great from a DVD+RW or DVD-RW. Just download the iso and use Burniso2cd to burn it. You don't even have to blank the rewritable DVD first; Burniso2cd will simply overwrite whatever is on it.

I have done Lupu-5.28 and Macpup-5.28
On this same computer and optical drive and they both saved files
Even did Macpup on a pen drive and it saved files
This dpupexprimo was downloaded and the md5sum checked and burned with burniso2cd
To a dvd/rw with multisession open
The save configure file says it will save to squeeze_save.2fs
The other distro's saved to pup_save.2fs
That file or any dates dir as your /mnt/sro never appears in rox
I have mounted sr0 after every try
I will try another distro and let you know the results.
Thanks for the help

Tried one more test before calling this a bug
I had a Racy-5.2.2 cd I had burn't Nov of last year
I loaded it and found a save file 2011-11-22-08-47
I then made a few name changes to some of the desktop icons
Saved and got 2012-05-10-02-59 as a save file
Rebooted and all the changes to the icon were present
Thanks for your help and I will see about filing a bug report
