Thank you a lot for your help but puppy arcade v5.(iso) is based in puppy 4.3.0
It has some charsets missing (and needed keyboard layouts, like pt-latin@euro)...
i had to use in english...
ive tested it some months ago...
it is a great idea to revert the changes on jwm and puppy itself, but i dont know if they would work or not..

@darkcity,
tested your single .pet on another computer (not my daily-use machine!). It's running LuPu5.1 on a Celeron @1.3GHz w/ 2GB RAM.

Audacity opens and will load a sample file (2barks.wav). That's about as far as I got but it looks good. I haven't tried recording.

I have another netbook with an Atom and only 1GB RAM that has LuPuPlusLibre installed, when I get a chance I'll test Audacity 2.0 on it. Oddly enough it seems to do better with multimedia stuff than the Celeron does, it'll even run a USB TV stick under Windows 7.

For now it's time to prepare for another work week, no more playing with computers for a few days, pity me!

I think I can now say that Audacity 2 is working just fine in LuPuPlusLibre. I was able to record a side of vinyl, declick it, and run a noise reduction on it, and save it as an mp3.

I am also happy to report that the declicker module has vastly improved, and is now actually useful, although it is still sort of a pain to calibrate.

I had forgotten how big uncompressed audio files get, and that I was running a frugal installation with only a 1-gig savefile, so I had to do it all over. One or two levels of undo data eats up a gig in a big hurry. Audacity didn't crash, it was just unable to save any more.

I downloaded and unzipped the help manual, and put it in the place they recommend, but it doesn't work from the program menu. It's HTML, so you can simply open it in your browser, but it would be nice to have it immediately available. I tried changing its permissions, and I also tried it in a "full" installation as well as a frugal one, all to no avail. Playdayz has published a fix for GIMP help, I wonder if that would work? Maybe try that tomorrow.

All in all, certainly the best Audacity version ever, and many thanks to all for that!
