installer une imprimante multifonction Lexmark

#1 Post by cyberblairo »

Bonjour,

Cordialement,
Médor.

First, read here about installing Lexmark printers.

Then download the lexmark inkjet legacy-1.0.1.pet from here.

Please report back with your success or failure.

http://support.lexmark.com/index?segmen ... age=null#1

In fact, it is a wireless printer, maybe is this difficulty to detect cups?

I also tried to install the script provided by Lexmark (which can salute the effort to Linux):

but unfortunately it stops, telling me that my system does not have CUPS. (it has the version 1.4.6).

I'm really "annoyed" because I am fully satisfied Puppy an easily Linux distribution, everything works except my printer that I would call modern and very large public: it is annoying for Puppy, Lexmark who has made "efforts Linux" and .. me! ;-)

Here, I give you the version of Puppy: This is a Slacko Puppy version 5.3.3 on a eeepc1000H, and the printer is a Lexmark S305 scanner that works with under other versions of linux.

Thank you for reading soon

You have two problems to solve.
1. Make CUPS detect the wifi printer.
2. Install the correct driver package.

1. CUPS certainly can detect wifi printers. But you may have to select Find New Printers or Add Printer several times.

If CUPS still cannot find it, you must install it manually.
a. Select: AppSocket/HPJetDirect
b. Enter: socket://aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd (using the IP address of your printer)

2. The driver package from Lexmark will NOT work in Puppy. You MUST use the PET.

Finally the news:
I'm finally work on it after finding the Puppy I wanted (after testing more than fifteen, it is the "minimalistic" metropuppy I like that but also il has beautiful fonts, for example, well : it is not subject).

My problem was so stupid that I'm ashamed: oops:
but I dare mention it because it could be useful to others.

"how to find the IP address of my printer"!

The answer is on the dashboard of the printer configuration and go to "print network settings".

Here, I know, it sucks, but it is the easiest questions that sometimes give the most evil, a sort of "blocking".

Well, now I've heard it move : it's alive !
..but it give me the error:

"pstoraster failed"

I'll get, but if you have a track ..
thank you

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Merci
