The machine is 2 year old but I wonder if the latest 022 requires more resources than available in this machine. 021 continues to work perfectly.

I've a notion that the problem relates to the Nvidia Ion graphic chipset,

Could anyone advise; should I search for a better video driver to run 022 or just stick with the already fine 021?

@GeraSats

Yes I understand that 022 is not stable, however it runs perfectly on an Aspire 4820GT, Intel i5 2.4 Ghz.

Nonetheless it is certainly unstable on my Eeebox.

Comic book problem in Saluki

#3203 Post by Dromeno »

My happiness for the installability of debs wasa not as eternal as I had hoped. Or at least not yet.

I can't get a good comic book reader to work. Evince will open comic book files but soaks up a lot of memory. qcomicbook / comical / comix are all good alternatives (I especially like qcomicbook which is ultralight & fast) But none of the existing pets or available debs are actually able to open the files

and for the rest... I had hoped that a deb of gnucash would open but no. Same with gpodder, glabels and retroshare

soon I will test the music stuff (ardour, hydrogen, lmms, mixxx, rosegarden) but I do not expect they will work out of the box.

Dromeno,

Here's ComicMaster that I compiled in Saluki, just try it as I'm not sure as to whether you will need other dependencies.

If it works goodo, here is a link to tell you what can be done with it as there is no manual and it does look a little confusing.

I assume you are using Saluki and have Qt installed, strange I only used qt dev files from the repo and used src2pkg to compile it, is it working for anybody else?
My install of Saluki is a mess at the moment, I've installed that much stuff I've lost track of whats installed, so that maybe a problem.

I tried to compile qcomicbook but it needs poppler for qt, looked like a nightmare to compile it, so I gave it a miss.

I've been looking for a AdobeAIR comic reader, I found one but all it does is read image files, so that means they have to be extracted first which defeats the purpose,
if that's the case any image viewer could be used.

Anyway if comicmaster proves to be useless I'll remove it and try again at a later date with a clean install of Saluki.

I posted all issues I had with the 1101HA and Saluki 0.2.2 already on the Saluki homepage's forum, but I wondered: is it better to post here?

A quick overview of the problems encountered:
-wakes up from suspend with black screen
-trouble with microphone
-Battery pack treported to be empty, just after a full reload
-Increase/decrease sound level (F11/F12) only function right after boot up.
-Missing libraries in the Firefox package.

Question: what are the files named "delta" on the download page?

Re: Bug in icewm or xfce4?

Dromeno wrote:The Saluki 22 package manager offers JWM and IceWM as alternative window managers for xfce4. But if you install IceWM there is no way to switch back to xfce4 (xwin startxfce4 doesn't work properly; xfce4 is started but later the system goes starts IceWM).

With JWM this does not occur but there the wallpaper is wiped out. The wallpaper chooser in xfce4 does not work too good either, it only accepts the name "default".
You need to use the switcher in the control panel.

Is the intention to switch to this new site; I ask because the main traffic appears to be still targeting this forum.

I note also that the downloads link of the new site is not currently pointing anywhere.

Cheers,

Oliverjames
The intention is to mainly use the new site, but it will be a while before everyone transitions over.

I've added the adobe air apps to the repo except the ones needing gnome-keyring. I had issues getting that to work.

I've also added goot and comicmaster.

AdobeAIR, imollo

I don't know if anyone will be interested in this, it's a free file transfer application.

I know nobody with an account to try it with, so best read the review about it, I defiantly would find it useful.

Read the imollo 1.8 review, this version is 1.9.4 http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/window ... 2519.shtml short demo video http://vimeo.com/18324785
